Why are we so divided?

I have been here for a number of months getting a feeling for others feel about what is going on.

As a Nation things have been not going as good as it seems it should.

We all seem to see that there are problems that need fixing.

We all have given answers to what is wrong & what is needed to be done.

Much has been said of the mental state of others.

I have seen very little gain in closing the gap between us.

So I ask why from people that have so much in common we stay so divided?

Floyd you say as a Nation, things are not going as good as it seems it should. Do you think that things seem not so good is due to the divide in our attitudes toward this nation or because we as a nation are really in decline?

For two reasons Fred, their political party preference and their education on politics.

How many on this site have read the Constitution and understand it's basics? Obviously very few.

Why isn't the Constitution a required course in the education system set up by the federal government? It stands just behind the Bible as our main "book" to learn.

Could it be because the federal government doesn't want the "new comers" to understand it?

Anyone who wishes, Hillsdale College gives a free on-line course on the Constitution. It's well worth taking.

I think virtually everyone in this country welcomed the
e******n of a black president, and hoped that racial tensions
would lessen as a result. However, it seems that the Democrats are quick to jump on any criticism of Obama as having a racial motive, which in most cases is not true and tends to keep the battle alive.

There are also, of course, strong differences in ideology between the two parties, and perhaps those are sharper now
than in past decades.

That gap will never be closed as long as one side is for true individual freedom and the other side doesn't really value true individual freedom. That gap will never be closed as long as our politicians lie like rugs for the sole purpose of getting elected. The gap will never be closed as long as politicians and the political left continue race baiting. The gap will never be closed as long as the v****g public continues wallowing in stupidity and no knowledge. The gap SHOULD NOT BE CLOSED if these areas of severe disagreement cannot be changed.

In a Nation that sees fit that a few have no top to their top side & sees it as right that others have no rights in sharing what we as a Nation provide. This where we are at.

When fewer share in the gains made by all. Fewer will be there to defend the few in their greed for more.

OK so I take it that you believe that we, the USA are not really in a decline, we are only divided. Please tell me what our nation provides that others do not have a right to.

We can stand by with any Nation.

We have not gotten weaker per-say. Other Nations have gotten stronger. Because Being as divided as we are we are not as strong as we could be.

As a nation we have to step back from being the worlds police force. A police force that has been used at times in the interest of large corporations.

Tasine,
Good post, in my opinion, clear and to the point...
I might add a little...

We seem to have a "divider-in-chief" residing in the white house. We are being divided into groups such as black-white, rich-poor, rich white men with privilege-poor or black people, EVIL businesses-good government, men-women...and any other group that can be convinced that they are victims and NEED an ever expanding government to protect them/provide them their "entitlements".

It is deliberate and appears to be having at least moderate success when you consider how much the Federal governments power has increased (individual freedoms decreased - Obamacare for example) during the Obama tenure.

Your point is well taken, There will always be division until Homeland Security rounds up the "INDIVIDUALS" (who believe the government works for us -not the other way around) and sends them to a "re-education" center..OR...
Citizens regain the personal and financial freedoms envisioned by our founders and that guaranteed by the constitution.

Any bets on which ?

Great follow up! I am praying and betting on personal and financial freedoms for the citizens! Any other outcome would be detrimental to the country and the world! The U.S. should lead from the front and not follow. However we have become an empire much too large. We have military bases all over the world. Just as Great Britain did before! If we don't pull back the reins and shrink our world police efforts, we will end as Britain did! Broke and in turmoil! At that point it will not matter which outcome prevails!

Just how many in your system will have financial freedom?

Or will it be okay if it is just you who have more,?

Our corp. run government spends billions to ensure we stay divided. Our corp. run media fans the flames on a daily basis. If we continue to be naive enough to buy this bs, the 1% stays in power and the rest of us are screwed. By holding out the hope that you too can be one of the 1% they ensure we fight among ourselves. When in reality, they have destroyed the middle class. Given our once great manufacturing jobs to China in exchange for s***e labor, and forced a great many hard working people into poverty.

Both parties are owned by the same people. An honest man does not have the financial backing to take on corps. Some start out with good intentions only to sell us out to the 1%. It starts by making a small concession just to get a bill passed and before you know it, they are puppets.

It pains me to say this but I do not think the system can be fixed from within. We have no rights anymore. I doubt the average Roman citizen knew the empire was falling.

Financial freedom doesn't always t***slate into being wealthy! Financial freedom can mean several things. The ability to make enough from a good paying job to care for your family. To make enough from a good job to prevent having to live pay check to paycheck. To make enough to prevent from having to go to the government for food and shelter. To make enough to help send your kids through college and to fund a decent retirement. We both know that there are not enough decent jobs to provide that type of security. An able bodied person with any honor and p***e does not want to go to the government and ask for help! The vast majority of folks out of work or under employed want to have the dignity to support themselves. In today's economy that is impossible for most to do.
Why do you think that I am all about money and greed? Why do you ask such loaded questions? Of course I want everyone to obtain financial freedom! Don't you? Why do you judge me with your questions just because I am trying to invest and better my financial situation? Is it because I stated that I would be able to invest wisely and make a lot of money during a financial downturn in the economy? Why do you think it is bad to invest and better your financial situation even during a downturn? You have not one idea of my situation and why I want to better my financial state! You judge me from what I write even though you do not know me or my reasons why! Why do people do that? They think they know someone and their situation just by reading what a person writes on these sites!
I had no intention of telling you but you have this notion that I am a greedy SOB. I myself am disabled from a work accident! Yes I worked for over 30 years, 25 at the same company. I was injured and am not able to work anymore. There are a few thing I can do but am limited to how long due to extreme pain. My daughter is also disabled, she will never be able to support herself so that falls upon me and my wife to make sure she will be cared for after we are gone! Our government and the nasty federal reserve have put the future of Social Security in doubt with their crazy spending and borrowing schemes that are robbing the middle class and poor and t***sferring it to the already rich elite. Do you even wonder why the wealth gap is growing? Yes Obama is just as guilty of widening this gap as all of the other presidents have been. His policies have caused a massive t***sfer of wealth to the elite. People are so blind that they cant even see what is happening!
My reasons and goals to invest and grow my wealth are honorable! It matters not to me if you approve or not! Don't judge someone you don't know!
