When governments grow bureaucrats become entrenched. Then a populace not used to being told how to live does not take orders as readily as in a c*******t country. I’d still rather have more freedoms than security. If security is defined as being a good little lemming 😁😁

If you give up freedom in the name of security, you deserve neither.

Very well could be. Of course the size of the U.S. creates its own problems.

All the more reason the Founders realized the necessity of the E*******l College, to prevent tyranny by a majority.

I can't remember but it probably was. Sounds like something he would have said.

It is what should happen. When the gas crisis hammered airlines and shipping companies, they didn't get offered bailout options until they has been posting losses of hundreds of billions a quarter.

Big corporations need to do some reorganizing and restructuring first, cut the fat, the corporate jets, the tens and hundreds of millions going out on executive pay. Bigger fatter industries run on far too much administrative and executive costs.

Help the cruise industry by leasing the ships they won't be using for at least a year as quarantine and hospital facilities. They could charge people for luxury recovery and quarantine quarters.

I agree that we should let those companies that can't survive fall out in the shake-up. However, this is not an ordinary economic crisis. It is a health crisis that created an economic crisis through Government. This is the one time that the government has a real obligation to help and preserve those companies who through no fault of their own and find themselves hemorrhaging money; not like they did in 2009 when they bailed-out the companies who created most of the problem.

Nothing like a little BS hyperbole to gin up some fear woody. Hundreds of billions a quarter would equate to over a TRILLION per year.
