I still have the very same question:

Why no panic in past p******cs and why no extreme measures like sheltering at home in the past when greater numbers died of flu's which were very nearly just as contagious??

Look at the past numbers in Italy. It's not like this is new to them. http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1201971219303285

I asked a friend why no panic in the past and his response was that there were v******tions available and people were stupid and got no v******tions. How does that change anything?????

I should change the title of this thread to "Why worry about a disease for which there is a v*****e?"

It makes sense that we would not worry about a disease for which we can theoretically get v******ted, but there are still thousands dying from it.

Here's another question along the same lines: have we contained previous flu's?? With thousands dying each year due to those like the H1N1 v***s, literally tens of thousands every year even with v*****es, do we not panic because we think we have contained it???

Why no panic before? Because the media wasn’t inciting panic and politicians weren’t politicizing it quite like this.

I am convinced it is totally true and that the powers that be know it.

Maybe it's because H1N1 k**led mostly younger folk, and Congress tends to be older?

Or perhaps it's the sheer number of hospitalizations in a short time?

Also, panic feeds on panic...

Maybe, more accurately, because the media tends to be older and it k**led mostly kids. Or maybe, the media didn't want it to make Obama look bad (best hypothesis, I believe.)

But certainly panic feeds on panic. No doubt!! And once started, wanes with difficulty if ever.

The problem with that is it doesn't explain why China went into lockdown...

Although it is mostly nations that access western MSM that are panicking

Good point, however, they probably wish they had back in 2009. And, I know you're there, but they know how to drive western media. China rides US media piggy back, even plants stories, this they knew it would be something our media would hype up.

Two plus's for China: reduced spread among their own and trouble for Trump, who they want gone.

One other conspiracy note. If they created this big, they knee it was novel and knew it would/could do some damage, thus lock down.

2009 wasn't too horrible... But some restrictions and lots of testing.... I was working for a training school then and used to help out with the temp taking and disinfection of classrooms..

Personally, I think China realized they'd screwed up big time and tried to rectify it.... It's been hard on the economy

Yep.. No love lost if Trump goes down... But I doubt they'd enjoy what Bernie or Biden would do to trade....

I think Rose got it. This is a manufactured crisis.
