The building I am in was built in 1896, so has withstood the big 1908 plus the Loma Prieta quake in 1989. And we just did some foundation work that should hold up in the next one. Plus we are on bedrock. But I totally agree on parts of Market Street, Fisherman's Wharf and the Marina. Those are built on landfill and the earth pretty much liquifies in a big quake.
