Since the end of WW2 the United States has allied with Western Europe to promote freedom and democracy. We dedicated much of our nations energy into assuring that people around the world would enjoy the freedoms that those in the US Canada and much of Western Europe now do. The last dictatorships in Western Europe collapsed in the 70s when Portugal and Spain joined the free world. Opposed to this was Russia. After our uncomfortable alliance against the F*****ts in WW2 succeeded Russia took over numerous East European nations oppressing their people and depriving then of dignity and freedom. With the fall of the iron curtain these nations including Ukraine became fledgling democracies and have been harassed and corrupted by Russia ever since Putin became dictator. Supporting Ukraine as a free democracy is entirely in our interest as it is in the interest of the entire free world. And supporting freedom loving Russians in ridding their nation of Putin and his oligarch enablers is also in our best interest.

It is right now, it will be even more if Guiliani spills the beans. National Security? No. Smaller risk than Russia.

Since the end of WW2 the United States has allied ... (show quote)

100% accurate however, being in our interests is several levels of importance lower than being vital to our national security.

The left at least knows Russia is an adversary and enemy of our ally the Ukraine, the right has their heads so far up trump's butt they support throwing the Ukraine under the bus because as Mulvaney said "we are worried what Putin will do about US military aid".

You must live under a rock in a cave. Giving the Ukraine close to $400 million dollars in lethal aid (the Trump administration) is not throwing Ukraine under the bus; limiting aid to blankets and MRE's IS throwing the Ukraine under the bus (the Obama administration). Oh, what, you did know that? I forgot, you are merely a bald faced lying troll.

With Russia now having Crimea, it's sea ports and the Donbass, it is no longer that important. And Obama essentially gave that to them, although the people there wanted to be part of Russia again. In military stratagems the Donbass gives them a land route to eh Crimean see ports.

So, from that stand point, Obama was the great sinner of endangering US National Security. Why didn't they impeach Obama??

b/c Republicans don't try to impeach a President over policy differences.

So, how does it enhance the defense of Ukraine, to send them aid and have it siphoned-off into the pockets of the sons of our legislators and a former VP?

That has to be proved first .

There are trying to reform their culture of corruption and build democratic institutions. We should at least help them with this by not letting the sons of American politicians come there and siphon off money from the country.
