People can pray on their own and should be free to do so. It should not be led or sanctioned by anyone working in or associated with the school.
Anyone who says there is no such thing as prayer in a public school classroom has never been in a fifth-grade class right before a math test.
Years ago, there was a High School graduation that took place somewhere in Texas. The school had been warned not to have a public prayer during the ceremony. I can't remember if it was the ACLU or Madeleine Murray O'Hare who went to court to stop the practice that was also common at Friday night football games. Anyway, The student valedictorian came to the podium to deliver his address to the students and spectators whereupon he sneezed. In unison was a loud response of "God Bless You!"
Don't mess with Texas!

I don't want to listen to their's while walking on the campus and they are gathered in mass on the lawn. Silent prayer doesn't bother me as much. People who wear their religion on their sleeve for everyone to see rubs me the wrong way.
The University of Michigan, using state funds, built a place specifically for Muslims to pray on campus. I don't understand how that can stand. What wrong with using an empty gymnasium? At a private school, yes. In fact, many have chapels.
Even private schools are entwined in the controversy since they receive money from the government and students receive federal student aid. Therefore, the federal government thinks it can call all the shots. Get the government out of the education business, at least on the national level.

They can say it during recess. Or better yet wherever they came from.
I agree it is a state function.

What the government considers legal or illegal affects what is taught in school to the children in any society. Legalized same-sex marriage, normalized homosexual conduct, and a concerted effort by the left to silence anyone who would express the view that homosexual conduct is morally wrong. This is the battle we are in.
I totally agree. The education of children should NOT EVER be influenced by politics. EVER!!!!
