I woke up, did my chores and decided to see what my friends on OPP found newsworthy. I saw that there was a reply to a thread I had on my watch list. So, I opened it....and it was a member who had no comment on the thread, but had a need to take me behind the shed to give me a tongue lashing for my not being "nice" anymore. In their words "Pennylynn I detect a dual personality in you recently you have become extremely angry and very down on others but several months ago you were a calm level headed poster very nice person is everything ok in your life or is someone else posting under Pennylynns name???????" So, now the need for this thread. To any and all that I may have offended, I apologize. I am honest to a fault, or so my family says. But, that is not an excuse for hurting your feelings or sensibilities. I will do my best to be "nice" again and refrain, to make a considered, conscious effort not to reply to any thread where my honest opinion may cause anyone anguish or hurt feelings. Again, for all I have injured, I send my deep regrets and ask for forgiveness.


And to my observant friends, I acknowledge that this should have been put in "General Chit Chat" but, I wanted the widest coverage and some of the offended may not be subscribed to other "rooms" on OPP

Frankly Pennylynn you are one of the more logical and well spoken participants on this site and if on rare occassion your concern for the t***h makes your post less than warm an fuzzy, so be it, Rather see the t***h presented well than cloaking it in mush so as not to offend someone who, perhaps, needs to be offended once in a while. KEEP IT UP.

You and your lovely wife are very kind. I do not come to OPP to insult, and I try to stay away from attacking individual presenting or offering their perceptions. I try to stick to facts, or the t***h. There are times when I provide my personal opinion. My personal opinions are not always well received and are not politically correct, as in the case of the referenced thread. In hindsight, I should have added the expected and acceptable condolences or not added a comment.

We apologize way to much for offending! If t***h and thoughtful, heartfelt and passionate replies are offensive, then obviously they’ve hit the spot! The Sadducee s and Pharisees h**ed Jesus for spot on answers to questions! Anything that is backed by t***h is offensive to the l*****ts! Keep on speaking!! We need more outspoken people that back their posts with salted t***h! Missed ur posts! Don’t change!

You made a number of good points, none of which should have offended anyone. It is curious when a movie star or famous athlete meets a tragic end that idolatry occurs but true heroes meeting their end merit a brief news blip. I didn't know Kobe Bryant was one who had taken a knee but it does appear to be one of his few blind spots.

I agree with you, we do spend much of our time apologizing. But, I am sure you would agree, when you do make a major (apparently so in this case) faux pas, then an apology is not only necessary, but the right thing to do. My response in the thread came across critical of a recent deceased sports star. I have a different view of death; it is necessary and it will happen to everyone. I get somewhat amused and somewhat annoyed when people elevate the deceased to a god-like positions. This is not politically correct, as one should not talk badly about the dead, to do so makes the speaker appear to be callused or uncaring for the feelings of their friends and loved ones. In other words, I should have been more mindful of weighing the facts to the harm those facts caused others. I will always apologize when I am wrong, and in this case, I was wrong.

Having said all that...I sincerely appreciate your response!

I have found that sometimes (maybe often) on OPP people see a dissenting opinion as an attack. Please don't edit yourself, Pennylynn, I find your posts EXCELLENT

I agree, the "common, everyday heroes" get a line in the obituaries and then are unmentioned again.

Many people do not understand how offensive taking a knee is to a military member, especially one who has been in combat or have lost a loved one in service of our nation. But, in hindsight, one should not speak badly about the dead. My mentioning that uncomfortable t***h was poor timing and I regret having brought it up.
