I have a question...not about the pig although that was sick from start to finish.
How is it you keep up with so much of what is going on in China? Who are you?
What are you?

Your question can apply to any of us here at OPP, Carol. I consider the Canuck a friend, based only on his posts. It's interesting how we try to put faces, human traits, etc. on all of our fellows on this forum. I can only define any of you by your posts, and a bit by your (avatars? ).
So to me, It's important to be civil ,to start with... then proceed with these strange relationships we form. I'm 65 , and not really hip to tech stuff. One of the things I have learned is some folks are consumed with ignorance and bitterness...and use these sites to puke-up their negativity. Others are friends we have for a few minutes a day ( like on an elevator, or that nice clerk at the market ).
And then, people like Canuckus and others,
whose sincerety overcomes the space between us, and are the people I would have over for some great home-made chili.
Be Happy.

They are hugely powerful over here...

Park apologizes for pig bungee stunt
Chinadaily..

A theme park in Chongqing apologized on Sunday for taking a pig bungee jumping after netizens said the park was abusing animals.

In a video that went v***l online, a heavy pig dressed in a cape was pushed off the bungee platform.

It couldn't move, and its four limbs were tied with cords. During every dive, it screamed harshly, as did the audience.

The pig was about 100 kilograms and was pushed from a height of 68 meters. The park did it to promote the opening day of its bungee program on Saturday, an unnamed staff member of the park told ThePaper.cn.

He also said they were just testing the facility, and that the pig's fall is a good omen for the price of pork. As statistics show pork prices rose about 42 percent last year, this indicated it would drop this year, he said.

He refused to accept the blame for animal abuse and said the pig looked "very calm" from beginning to the end.

He did apologize, however, for the park's ill-conceived promotion idea and added the pig has since been sent to the "safety" of the butcher.
