We have entered an era of technological change most of us don’t even understand

What I find remarkable is that non scientists, skeptical of scientists and science...................are demanding scientific proof that humans impact the environment.

I see it as akin to this;

Firemen wake you up in the middle of the night, telling you that your house is on fire and, rather than allowing them to put the fire out or attempt to rescue you from the flames - you argue with them about what started the fire.

I don't see any fire. Or smoke. Just hot air.

The problem occurs when said firemen start supporting research that supports their jobs..

Recently my university decided that smoking in dorms was a fire hazard and enacted a rule that students could no longer smoke in their rooms...

I pointed out that this was a violation of the constitution... And the University responded by explaining the students who smoked could do so in the hallways... They also stated that the students should be more considerate of those who love in their buildings and refrain from smoking in their rooms when there is a perfectly good hallway right there...

Yep... This happened...

According to Nasser Arctic sea ice was 8 million square kilometers in 1980 now it's about half that, the graph shows it goes up and down but the trend is down at 12•85 % sea ice lost each decade.

It is a Divine judgment I saw it myself in the bush fire only 3 things got saved at my place, my solar panels separate from the house which was the second thing and a small garage for my motor bike which is now registered so I must be telling the t***h as my life goes on as normal so I can continue doing that from the Holy Mountain which is Mt. Skanzi.

It continued to go down through the 90s and into the 00s. In 2009, the arctic ice cap was at its least. But now both the arctic and antarctic ice caps are expanding both in surface area and thickness, if you exclude Greenland. But if you include Greenland, the entire amount of ice is still decreasing as the increase in the rest of the arctic is more than offset by the decrease in Greenland.

Glacier National Park is also replacing signs which were put up in 2012 which stated by 2020 the glaciers would be completely gone. These signs were added after the last prediction that by 2012 the glaciers woud be completely gone turned out to be in error. They are not putting a date on their next replacement signs but are still warning of the disappearance of the glaciers despite the current increase.

Note that the pictures taken from the same angle and the same time of year indicate the Grinnel Glacier, which was shrinking, is now increasing. These are 2016 and 2019.

Not a good analogy. We know what fire does and how to put it out. There are hypothesis about what will happen, but though models support the hypothesis, actual current data does not. And without a better understanding of what is happening and what the causes are, how can we know what the effects will be of assumed "cures". Time and again we (humans) have tried to "cure" different environmental problems. Often the results have been worse that the situation the cure was supposed to fix. Multiple islands which bird eating animals, such as snakes, were inadvertantly introduced were dealt with by releasing mongoose. Instead of eating the snakes, the mongoose ate more birds, bird young, and eggs than the snakes. There are many many examples of people assuming they understood an environmental problem and how solve it, but wound up with a bigger problems.

As a non smoker, I'd rather they smoked in their rooms than the hallway. A non smoker need not enter a smoker's room. But they would have to walk through the smokey hallway.

There are lots of issues with the Arcti sea ice, I think the new sea route that has been in the media heaps of times since 2009 indicates that Global industry CEO's expect the passage to become more and more viable, not to mention the rush to begin oil and gas exploration which was impossible before.

But it could be that the North Pole is less affected and the South Pole is more affected because of the permanrnt polar vortex which is a polar cyclic outbreak of very high wind speed in winter extending to the US North West and causing massive displacements of both hot and cold air, the vortex is bordered by the sub tropical air which has the affect or effect of speeding up the wind by collusion of hot and cold this speed causes major concentrations of hot and cold pockets, maybe 2019 was a extreme jet stream event felt as hot and cold areas in upper North America.

Anything that prevents the Greenland glaciers from melting is a good thing.

I remember vaguely posting something about the jet stream on OPP before, it's not really new to me and I have been sort of following it.

There are many ironic phenomena associated with climate, Australian drought is caused by cold seas caused by the indian Ocean Dipole that is called a positive phase of the Indian Ocean Dipole, so the negative phase brings rain, same with La-Nina positive is bad negative good.

The bad news is a double negative makes a good outcome for us and a double positive (Indian Ocean Dipole and La-Nina) is a super positive which is a disaster and seems to be happening more frequently.

Hey you got part of this right, try to track some inescapable facts pertaining to history that has happened in our lifetime if you are 60 years old.

Look up the shape rivers, streams, and lakes were in on the east coast. Creeks and rivers were dead, no fish, brush on the side of creeks and rivers were dead, too toxic to swim in for sure. Industries were just dumping toxic pollution right into the rivers. Air pollution was so bad that it was causing acidic rain to a degree that it was acidifying lakes it rained on and k*****g fish.

Regulations on air and water were needed to stop and reverse this process.

Pollution affects the environment and enough of it changes the world's environment. The ocean is acidifying to where it is k*****g even the great barrier reefs. The temperature of the oceans are rising, half a degree can start a chain of events that alters what lives in it where.

The fires in australia are going to alter the climate all around the world by carrying smoke completely around the world that will change temperatures. Soot is being drooped on snow and ice fields that darkens it and causes escalated melting. It is the changing of the climate that has led to this level of dryness and fires. Small changes caused by something leads to larger and more dramatic changes that alter the world in irreparable ways.

As we speak, two asteroids are on a direct course to strike the earth in two specific cities of the US.

The first will strike New York City and the second will hit San Francisco.

Both asteroids were thrown from the very hand of Yaweh as punishment for the iniquitous display of obnoxious homosexuality and the anti-Semitic acts of violence.

Hold on to your butts because you're about to see the wrath of God Almighty.

Maybe one of those asteroids could score a direct hit on Robert DiNero's megamansion, or maybe take the scum out by a direct hit on the radical women on "The View".

Hopefully Nanny Peeloosli and Diane Frankenstein will be in the fetid streets of San Francisco when those asteroids hit.

Yes, those islamic jihadists that set those fires a blazing in Australia were c*****e c****e activists also. They believe in changing the temperature of the Earth by starting forest fires. Blame the islamists not c*****e c****e.
