The people said.............

I've been hearing that statement a lot lately, you know, Democrats are trying to undo the people's 2016 choice, trying to undermine the people's chosen Government etc., but is any of that true? For those who chose the ruling administration, the answer is an emphatic yes, for those that did not, the answer is an emphatic no.

Let's not count those Americans who made NO choice in 2016 for a moment, and only discuss those who did choose. Based solely on the v**e count, not the E*******l College count, slightly more than half did NOT choose this administration. Be that as it may, since our system for electing a President is not based on the popular v**e, those Americans that did not v**e for the "winner" are expected to respect the winning choice and pull together for the good of the country and assumes that they are now onboard with the winning agenda.

I think everyone can agree with that statement - but here is where it falls apart; The person who is selected by the E*******l College becomes the President of the United States...........................not President of the Republican/Democratic States, not President of the Republican/Democratic party. To assume that the people's wishes, as represented by the elected members of the "other" party, are irrelevant and may be dismissed, immediately draws battle lines. To keep using the premise that ALL the people are now onboard with the winning agenda, is just plain stupid, completely divorced from reality.

For myself, I'm tired of hearing politicians and talking heads making statements " the people said, the people chose " and similar stuff, because it isn't remotely true. A President or ruling party, will NEVER garner the support of all Americans, by dismissing more than half of them as irrelevant. The REAL numbers of American v**ers, show that only 1/5 actually v**ed for the current administration, and no efforts whatsoever has been made to win over the other 4/5. In fact, the only efforts seen, have been to impose the wishes of those 1/5 on the whole country.

When making a statement for all the people, make sure that all the people have signed on.

Here's a map of the counties, not solely population centers, that v**ed for President Trump. Excuse me but aren't progressives the people who preach the sanctity of "diversity?"

You should go back to the drawing board.

EXCELLENT premise. It's why so many objected to Obama.

Of course he was but his argument is fallacious. Eliminate the huge population centers and progressives lose every time. Eliminate the E!ectoral College and Progressives win every time. The map of counties I presented shows why there is a constitutional necessary balance called the E*******l College.

Always on the spot. Thank you to our founding fathers who had such a clear view of the future.

"So many" did not object to Obama, only so many of the people you hear. Less people objected to Obama than object to Trump by huge margins, so what is your take on so many more that object to Trump?

I object to a president who calls out anyone who doesn't agree with him as bad, as unpatriotic, as not loving their country. Those who do not agree with the ridiculous policies this i***t pulls out of his butt or gets from his dictator friends he so admires and loves object to him because they do love this country and they h**e seeing what he is doing to it.

More people object or disapprove of this president on his best day than disapproved of Obama on his worst day.

"So many" did not object to Obama, only ... (show quote)

The difference is that the people that object to President Trump object to his words and style. His actions and policies are producing good results for the country.
People objected to Obama for his abysmal actions and policies.

Show some presence of mind... why do you not mind at all the minority over ruling the majority and forcing unpopular policy that serves the few while repressing the many who v**ed against the minority, but lost due to an archaic frontier policy?

This is the truth of the EC and why no other nation but the US uses such a system.. the minortiy government which is now destroying our place in the world is the 2nd in this century to be a minority govt. a/c of the EC.. we need a remedy...

It is true that we sould stop making this only about trump..

We need to talk about the people and the nation.. that is what v**ers will relate to..

The short term in near over and the costly down side costs will start appearing..

We can already see the loss in our world status, the rise in power of Putin and Russia,

The trend in our economy has started to turn and should be pointed out to the middle/working class who will be affected.

Wisconsin has a good example.. the huge plant to be constructed in SE Wisconsin where so much was promised turned into a bad joke of trumps promises..

Sad times ahead... hope you and yours will be OK..
