I have made my own yogurt for years. I use 1 gallon of half and half, 1 cup splenda, 2 Tbs vanilla extract and 2 Tbs of ground ginger. From that I strain 3 cups of whey that I use to make my home made breakfast cereal. This yogurt is very thick and has no starches or other thickeners in it and I can pronounce everything that is in.

I have never made yogurt….thank you for the tip and the link! I like to keep my foods simple....I am not a fan of better living through chemistry.

White vinegar could severely burn your throat. It is made from grain and contain up to 20% acetic acid. I use white vinegar for making pickles and cleaning. I have never drank it....I do not know if it can balance the PH in the body. I WOULD NOT recommend skipping the water, the one thing ACV does is flush the kidney of acid, meaning …. for a few hours, you urinate quite a bit, making dehydration an issue if you skip the water.

Darn
Now I Can't Enjoy My Salt, Pepper, Vinegar, And Oil
I Usually Use A Little Extra, Just Special
So I Can Drink It Because I Thought It Had Health Benefits

I am sorry to learn of your condition. I know how painful the condition can be. I hope you get better soon.

Have you tried apple cider vinegar? 3 tablespoons in 8 oz of water 4 times a day will balance the acid in your body and reduce inflammation. It is natural and will not harm you in any way....try to find ACV with mother, it works quicker. Most folks experience relief in about 24 hours. after this flare up, adjust your diet to more alkaline to prevent it from happening again.

I have a recipe to make a very good salad dressing. It is "Red Onion Salad Dressing". The base of it is chopped red onion, oil and "red wine vinegar". I now replace the red wine vinegar with ACV. It doesn't have the same nice red color but it does have the same flavor...plus I can get the benefits of the ACV
****************************************************************
Red Onion Salad Dressing

2 Cups of oil, (canola, olive, etc.)
1 1/3 cup sugar (I use Splenda instead of sugar)
1 cup of red wine vinegar: Apple Cider vinegar works just as well and it's lots cheaper, just not as RED
1 Med. Red onion
2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp of black pepper
2 tsp dry mustard
1 tsp celery seed or chopped celery, caraway seed is also good
Put in blender

This salad dressing will keep for several weeks because of the vinegar that will preserve it. I also like to put 1/4 cup of caraway seed in it. Which can cause a problem for people with false teeth because the seeds can get under them which is uncomfortable.

I have added a cup of Red Rosa' Wine to the basic receipie and that makes it taste very good.

My blender doesn't have room for the entire recipe so I cut up the onion and blend it on high with the 2 cups of oil, then add the rest of the ingredients together in a large mixing bowl and mix with a whisk.
