But for Trump, how many Mattis's or others like him would have started WWIII by engaging Turkey in a war??

Guys like Mattis need to be on a tight leash. They have greatness but, . . . .

Does anyone remember what our goal was, when we went into Syria?

We weren't in danger of going to war with Turkey while their Army stayed in Turkey. But for Trump, they'd still BE in Turkey.

Your handle indicates a military background; if so you know that absolutely, positively Turkey was not going to stay out of Syria for much longer. The Kurds thought by helping us they might get a semi-autonomous region like in Iraq; again, that was never gonna happen and if any of our military or state department types made any such noises to them that was totally wrong; it never was ours to promise and Turkey and Syria have always and will continue to be dead set against it. Eventually, 50 spec ops guys would have changed from a being trip wire to becoming a sacrifice. I am 100% in favor of this move getting our guys out of there; the Kurds will just have to wait a while (a long while) for Kurdistan.

They've been setting the stage since Bush 1 and the hag would have taken us there with no thought at all except loving her power over life and death.

They absolutely would have stayed out had we had a president that stood firm and told them they would suffer losses of the equipment they moved over the border.

Trump has serious conflicts of interest with Erdogan...period

Get real, please. There is no president who would have attacked our strong NATO ally, Turkey, including Clinton, Bush, Obama and even Hillary. Turkey was itching to move into Syria and our 50 special ops folks would have been airlifted out as soon as it was obvious the move was about to begin. Trump jumped the gun a little and, as retired military, that is all right with me.
