There is a process in place that pertains to the se******n of a world event like this that several prestigious democratic nations participate in. There is a prestige and a need to provide a world class environment as a reflection of the best a country can do.

Besides the obvious constitutional prohibitions about a president taking anything of any value from a foreign country, there would be a dozen top tier venues looked at. There is a process for weighing an array of advantages one would have over another. Trump says this is the best venue, but there were others that would be better if the president's personal bias were taken out of the equation. The fact of the matter is that the Doral would not come in at the top of the list of truly world class resorts that would be excellent.

That aside there are the foreign emoluments issues, it is impossible to validate Trump's proclamation that the resort would make no profit, that is ridiculous. 45,000 meals will be served, how many bottles of wine, and how expensive are they and what markup is the donald going to use? There have been reports out of the DC hotel that envoys have an awareness of how their purchases are monitored, are they buying the $2500 bottles of wine. Trump is known to up the price well beyond industry standards when he has these captive hostages eager to curry favor by running up higher priced stays, booking larger numbers of rooms than they require, paying exorbitant rates for the higher end rooms and suites.

The countries involved can't even freely object and move to hold it elsewhere because Trump has made it clear from day one that to object to what he wants is to incur retaliation and vindictive future hostilities. He sees nothing wrong penalizing countries when he doesn't like a leader because they spoke out against him.

As supporters of Trump you need to know that there are so many things wrong with this that it was a pure moron move, it was just unnecessarily wrong...even FOX news gets that and is objecting.

There is a process in place that pertains to the s... (show quote)

The WH looked at 4 Chuckie Cheeses in Cincinnati, the top of Mt Denali, the basement of an abandoned Sears bldg. in Tulsa, and chose Doral. Of course Trump’s place will need millions of $$$ updating, but hey...!

Hahaha... Now I’ll tell one.
The Fat Orange went ballistic when Eric held a cancer fund raiser there and didn’t charge them anything.

What could be wrong with the immediate past president holding the first fundraiser for his first political campaign in the living room of a terrorist and his gangster wife?

Yeah, right. He does NOTHING at cost. Plus the bedbug-infested dump gets a lot of spiffing up at taxpayer cost.

So he's having it where he's comfortable, I see no problem. Markups are in your and CNN's mind.

Last year the Trump dump was only at 35% occupancy. It’s a money pit and Trump wants the gov’t. to clean it up.
It’s Emoluments writ large, and Congress isn’t having it.

You have no idea of scale do you? Whether the Doral resort is going gangbusters or is about to go belly up, this one event would have very little effect on the long term prospects of the Doral even if Trump kept all the profits.

What does that have to do with anything? The problem is not about the Doral’s future. The problem is Trump giving the finger to what is legal and proper—as is common procedure for him. He thinks the law doesn’t apply to him and the 1st amendment lets him do wh**ever he wants.

If Trump were doing things always for money why would he give his pay check to charity? I think the crooked Democrats think he must be like them.
