We Now Have a Genuine Constitutional Crisis

The Democrats won’t permit the orderly t******r of p***r that should have occurred after their 2016 loss.

The term “constitutional crisis” has been tossed around so often since President Trump took office that it now has little meaning in our public discourse. But regardless of what we call the current impasse between the executive branch and the House of Representatives pursuant to the “impeachment inquiry” launched by the latter, our government now faces a genuine crisis whose magnitude the nation hasn’t seen for more than 150 years. Americans have long celebrated the orderly t******r of p***r that is unique to our form of government. The Democrats, however, have abandoned that tradition by refusing to accept the outcome of the 2016 e******n.

Having pursued a policy of t***sparency and shown extraordinary forbearance with the antics of House Democrats only to be declared “illegitimate” for his trouble, President Trump has had enough. Tuesday, Counsel to the President Pat Cipollone put House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on notice that Trump would no longer allow their machinations to distract him from his normal duties. Pointing out that the ersatz impeachment inquiry concocted by Pelosi and her accomplices was constitutionally invalid, in brazen violation of basic due process, and contrary to the separation of powers doctrine, Cipollone wrote that the president would ignore it henceforth:

[T]he President cannot allow your constitutionally illegitimate proceedings to distract him and those in the Executive Branch from their work on behalf of the American people. The President has a country to lead. The American people elected him to do this job, and he remains focused on fulfilling his promises.… We hope that, in light of the many deficiencies we have identified in your proceedings, you will abandon the current invalid efforts to pursue an impeachment inquiry and join the President in focusing on the many important goals that matter to the American people.

Speaker Pelosi responded to the president’s refusal to cooperate further with the farce by releasing a bizarre statement declaring that the letter itself is somehow unlawful and that the refusal to respond to illegitimate requests from a coequal branch of government constitutes obstruction:

This letter is manifestly wrong, and is simply another unlawful attempt to hide the facts of the Trump Administration’s brazen efforts to pressure foreign powers to intervene in the 2020 e******ns. Despite the White House’s stonewalling, we see a growing body of evidence that shows that President Trump abused his office.… The White House should be warned that continued efforts to hide the t***h of the President’s abuse of power from the American people will be regarded as further evidence of obstruction. Mr. President, you are not above the law. You will be held accountable.

Never mind that President Trump has been investigated relentlessly by the Democrats and their surrogates since he was elected, and no credible evidence has been found that he has abused his office. Yet Madam Speaker gratuitously insists that he has committed all manner of offenses, and she has arbitrarily launched an “impeachment inquiry” without authorization by the full House — the first time this has been done in the history of the republic. The House has initiated impeachment inquiries against three presidents: Andrew Johnson, Richard Nixon, and Bill Clinton. All were authorized by a v**e of the full House. As the White House letter points out:

Your inquiry is constitutionally invalid and a violation of due process. In the history of our Nation, the House of Representatives has never attempted to launch an impeachment inquiry against the President without a majority of the House taking political accountability for that decision by v****g to authorize such a dramatic constitutional step. Here, House leadership claims to have initiated the gravest inter-branch conflict contemplated under our Constitution by means of nothing more than a press conference at which the Speaker of the House simply announced an “official impeachment inquiry.”

This is by no means the only defect in the Democratic inquiry process noted in the White House letter. In addition to their refusal to hold the House v**e that would legitimately authorize an impeachment inquiry, the Democrats have denied the president basic due process rights such as the ability to confront the witnesses testifying against him, the right to call his own witnesses, and to have the assistance of counsel. They are also deposing witnesses in secret. In essence they are denying the president fundamental rights guaranteed all Americans by the Constitution. The White House letter describes this egregious behavior thus:

Despite Speaker Pelosi’s commitment to “treat the President with fairness,” the Committees have not established any procedures affording the President even the most basic protections demanded by due process under the Constitution.… These due process rights are not a matter of discretion for the Committees to dispense with at will. To the contrary, they are constitutional requirements. The Supreme Court has recognized that due process protections apply to all congressional investigations. Indeed, it has been recognized that the Due Process Clause applies to impeachment proceedings.

Democrats frequently speak of “rights,” yet they are unwilling to recognize those of Donald Trump — as if the president of the United States is not entitled to the protections guaranteed every American by the Constitution. Nor are they willing to live up to their own rhetoric on impeachment. Jerrold Nadler, the Democratic Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, once stood up in the House and stated, “There must never be a narrowly v**ed impeachment or an impeachment supported by one of our major political parties and opposed by the other.” Neither Nadler nor his fellow Democrats seem to remember that high-minded principle.

These Democrats are so determined to bring President Trump down they refuse to acquiesce in the orderly t******r of p***r that the vast majority 0f Americans expected after the 2016 e******n. Thus, we have a congressional impeachment inquiry declared illegitimate by a p**********l administration that has already been deemed illegitimate by the very Democrats who are carrying out the investigation without following their own House rules or the Constitution. To yours truly, that looks a lot like a genuine constitutional crisis.

I wish Trump would just run the country and continue to campaign. He’s a magnificent speaker and, a brilliant and entertaining speaker, but he should allow his attorneys to speak for him in most matters. Less conflict. Does anyone agree?

Maybe but I don't think it will change the way they report on him so he might as well just keep on being himself. Maybe you're right. I don't know. He keeps snatching victory out of the jaws of defeat using his current methodology.

Trump is a NYC street fighter, not afraid to get down in the gutter with the dims and Lame Stream Media. DJT is simply defending himself, his family not only with his tweets, statements and news conferences. Some of the things said about him by leftoids are repugnant, demeaning and insulting. He's simply defending himself, family and the country! I sincerely hope he keeps it up and isn't defeated by a dimocrat inspired 'witch hunt' perpetuated by the dims~

As was stated in the Mueller report, the Obama admin had known as of 2014 that there was cyber meddling..Not having anything to do with Trump at that point, he was still a civilian!! as are his family!! Trump and his family being under surveilance as soon as he said he was gonna run.. it just got worse after he won.. Ah, Larai you are spot on with your assessment of ... (show quote)

When he does win re-e******n, Heads will explode!!!.. A mass influx of dems headin for their TDS Nervous breakdown!!.. Now that would be a helluva thing to see!!.. ALL of this s**t is just that!... Never in our History during an Impeachment has there EVER been a witholding of due process... This is why Nancy Pelosi won't bring it to the floor for a v**e.. even if the House v**es for, the Senate can say nope.. I also think, the only reason really to say no to this is if they do Not afford President Trump with due process!! It would just be interesting to see what all is said, who they subpeona, which witnesses would be called.. I'd love to see all of Obama's admin as well as him.. the Clinton's and Clinton Foundation & all their Minions....They are Afraid of Trump.. This man we have as our Duly Elected President, does NOT bow down, like both Bushes.. He does Not make Apology tours...He does NOT bow and kiss the saudi king's ring!!! THAT is why our Allies laugh.. however, I'm thinkin they ain't laughin now by Gawd! I v**ed for him Because he's an outsider.. I v**ed for him bc he doesn't take crap from others... Including the UN & Nato!!... With the US being the first off the dime for aid to these countries that claim to be our allies, he's absolutely Right... NATO and the UN need to kick some cash!! They are indeed taking advantage of our good will.. They need Us more than we need them..and that has become glaringly apparent in this past few years!!... Not to mention, all those UN countries Owe Rent on that building in NYC!!.. Bunch of freeloaders!! Trump is putting a stop to it!! Thank God someone is steppin up or we'd already be a "NWO"

Sadly, Trump is damned if he does and damned if he don't!! So I for one am Glad he's just keepin on keepin on...and doing the job we elected him for... It's naive to think that China.. would do Anything to k**l the golden goose.. IE Biden!!.. Also, Naive to think that IRAN would ever comply with a deal.. they just keep on enriching and pushing for nukes...Trump Knows this.. AS far as Pulling out on the Kurds.. well all I can say is I Hope they all get it together and find peace.. But America is done with war!~ Hopefully, Especially Long drawn out, with no end in sight!!..and we've already been at it THIS time, since 2001 in the Middle east... Here we are still over there.. what's tragic and sad is that Obama said he was pullin us out of there, and he got cheers.. Trump says he's pulling out the whole 50 people and he gets sneered at... Something he said that I heard last week struck me as amusing... He said that He should have told the dems he didn't want to build the wall...At our southern border, then they would have went ahead and built it... Gotta love a lil reverse psycology!... In my life time.. I have Never seen a president get this much Grief!!!... The right didn't do this to Obama, or the Bush's...Clinton deserved to be impeached... but even so they didn't unseat him and it was comin up to the end of his second term.. what Clinton did was a Bunch worse than what they are accusing Trump..and having read the entire, UN-Redacted transcript.. this is ALL much ado about Nothing... I saw, much like others that there was No collusion or quid pro quo!.. Period!!..

I simply wish he’d slow it down until we re-elect him. He’s brilliant but we need to see it more clearly.

Period!!..
When he does win re-e******n, Heads will explode!!... (show quote)

If not for a Trump, we’d already be a NWO. And while I’m here, let’s get those jokers the UN out of here. They’re a d**gon the economy. I h**e to sound like a stuck record but this is urgent...at least to me.

The problem is that the dems will prevaricate, twist, turn and outright lie. President Trump goads them into revealing themselves. I think a lot of what he does is purposeful. And, admittedly, sometimes just in poor taste
