You are correct. Herds of Deer must be managed to insure hat they have enough food and that there are the right number of mature bucks and does, in purportion of each for maximum reproduction. Around here, those who hunt often donate some of the ones they k**led but do not need for their family and friends, many of whom rely on deer, wild turkey, rabbit and rodents for the winter. The rest of their catch is properly gutted and cleaned and then given away. Several people who have big freezrs keep an extra supply for a couple of neighbors who might be short of space and once a month many of us get together and cook a lot and have a picnic for everyone who wants to come. Personally neither NPP nor I like game meat but we help cook it and hand it out, gives us time to visit and meet new people.
