"Various gun control measures" were instituted to reduce the violence from armed criminal gangs, not to disarm the law abiding people of those towns; you need to do more than read the words of history, you need to understand them as well.

I read a story today about a Maine, that passed a law 4 years ago allowing open carry without a permit.
Maine now has the lowest crime rate and is considered the safest state in the country.

I would disagree. I don't carry to settle arguments, I carry to defend myself when someone intends to k**l me and, in that case, the gun is absolutely my first choice.

You're exactly right MM... Another added benefit I haven't seen mentioned yet is we'd become the most polite society in recent history. All the gun-grabbers want is to take away our (god given and govt endorsed) right to reasonably defend ourselves from those who don't care one iota about our input..inotherwords-them.
