Aaah yes the dreams and fantasies of the gun crowd, but in reality, even in the Old West, there various laws and restrictions to control guns.

Perhaps because those who were smart enough to see how stupid people with guns act.

Back in the wild west days if one did not carry a guy you where nothing more then bait. Due to the fact most all carried has lead us to the America we have today. If you look around at most every country that did not go down this same path you see tyrants running the show. When our guns go we will be run by tyrants.

That is why law enforcement imposed various gun control measure in Dodge, Wichita, Santa Fe, etc.

You are absolutely right. We should all disarm and only allow rapists, murderers and armed robbers to carry firearms. That way we can defend ourselves the same way people like you do; by cowering in a corner and frantically dialing 911, then pleading with the nice smart criminal with a gun to please not k**l you. The restrictions on carrying firearms in those cities did not affect business and homeowners. These were small towns at the time, and armed response was fast, frequently by an armed citizen. Once more, the restrictions were mainly put in place to keep drunks from shooting indiscriminately. A rancher coming into town to buy supplies and leave was not expected to disarm. One of his hands who came into town to drink was.

The reason why the “OK Coral is so infamous is because there were so FEW shootings back then. True there were plenty of guns around but they were used for self defense from snakes, cougars, bears , renegade Indians and outlaws.

Anyone who lives along rural stretches of the Red River knows, it's not so much about 2 legged critters
as it is about the rattlers that cover everything including some roads in spring, copperhead's, coyotes,
wild cats with heads as big as melons with teeth to match, pumas who run wild in the night, black
panthers who will stalk at night, screech like a crazed women from the tree tops and leap over 50 ft

And lets not forget the javelina packs that are extremely volatile and dangerous as well as russian boar.
It's like wild kingdom out here at night if the electricity/lights gets knocked out by lightning

If you have horses n' cattle they need to be bedded down in the livestock/cattle barn every night...
Did ya know donkeys are great little herd protectors as well as dogs if they're raised from birth with livestock?

That's not how they do it. After placing a sign in their front yard saying they are a gun free house whole their home is invaded by i******s who were going to invade the house next door but saw the sign you also wrote in Spainsh. The home owner preform the Sarah Brady freeze move. At the first sign of your assailants aggression roll into a fetal ball and make no defensive move allowing your attackers to beat you senseless which isn't a problem as you were already senseless. Soon your attackers will tire of beating you and move on to another family member. You might even get lucky and neighborhood watch will show up and watch.
