Everyone has a right to self-defense. Particularly, those that do not use drugs, have a right to "pack" in wh**ever urban area they're in.

Yes. Get rid of gun control legislation in the urban areas. Criminals think twice if they know someone is "packing."

You don't know much about guns. Here are a few examples of legal guns that are just as effective (some more so) as semi-automatic weapons in shooting multiple people: lever action rifles, pump shot guns, double barrell shotguns and revolvers. Should we ban all of them as well? Once you start down this path, it doesn't stop and then the freedom of hundreds of millions of free people will be in jeopardy.

We have mass shooting in the hundreds every year--so many that only the worst one make the news. Yes, bad people do bad things but it's ridiculous to hand them the instruments in which to make those bad things worse.

All the politicians, including Trump and the Republicans, are crying for a solution "to make sure this never happens again". This absurd statement is akin to saying we must do something to make sure rape or robbery or assault or theft or murder will never happen again. All of these things will continue to happen again and again. The answer is absolutely NOT to deprive hundreds of millions of free people their access to potent weapons to prevent out of control governments from subjugating their people and committing genocide which, as well, will absolutely be attempted again at some point.

So you conservatives are up for being regulated? LOL, that's a good one!!

Didn’t say that troll. Said it was interesting. You’re the one wants regulated from birth to death. What a snowflake.

After every mass shooting, the same handwringing, lamenting, and finger pointing begin.

I personally don't think that future mass shootings can be prevented, any more than minor crime can be stopped.

But there are some deep thinking and well intentioned members who may have other ideas.

But please, be realistic, and keep in mind the freedoms and liberties everyone in this country has UNTIL they commit a crime.

What you have are soft targets. Crazy people will find them. The only thing you can do is harden up the targets with security. I believe the Las Vegas shooter had other targets in mind before that shooting. Nobody knows why he abandoned his earlier plans, but perhaps some security issue deterred him.

Shooters are predators. A predator always looks for his easiest target. Rarely does a crazy person walk into a gun club or a police station and start shooting. They are crazy, not stupid.

So you are equating guns to addictive drugs? Interesting comparison and you do act like people who are addicted.

How's this for a solution, a ten thousand dollar fine per semi-automatic weapon you are caught with. Catch you again and the fine will be twenty thousand dollars and three years in prison.

This won't eliminate semi-auto's but it will make them so cost-prohibitive and dangerous to keep that their sale will be but a trickle.

I was simply pointing out that "eliminating" semi-autos is a impossible fantasy.

You cannot put the genie back in the lamp. Is that simple enough for you?

No matter how many laws that you pass, as long as there is a demand, there will be a supply.

Great idea... maybe a punishment of horrible pain as a consequence!

Lot of people point to Australia as an example. Found this interesting

I hear a lot of people talk about Australia, and what they have done with guns, and then I here others talk about what a disaster it has been for that country. It always boils down to the fact that bad people will always find a gun if they need one, or if they can't find one, they will use a knife, or bomb, or vehicle, or wh**ever else gets the job done. It still leaves the good people with good intentions without any protection. So in that respect it still fails to do what it is intended to do which is keeping the public safer.

What a fine idea, Pete! Then, no law abiding person will have SA weapons. Would you mind telling me how that will solve the problem?

The instrument is the thoughts in their brains when they act on those thoughts. Swift, blind justice is the best possible cure. We have to remove bad actors much more quickly from society. The death penalty is back and more crimes should be added to list. Especially those involving children.
