I am confused, why would the Congress not want to enforce the laws that it passed? Perhaps so of you Democrats could enlighten me. What does the term “i*****l a***n” mean to you?

It is a cooked up term used to disparage immigrants. It is wrongly applied to numerous people from those who overstay a work or educational visa after developing communities of friends or establishing professional or romantic relationships here to people who legally request political asylum in the US. It is deliberately used as a pejorative in a manner a is not in other applications. If you are running late to work and driving over the speed limit you are not referred to as an illegal motorist, to do so would only serve to demonize you in the eyes of the gullible.

It's not cooked up at all. Illegal means they're here illegally. You conveniently forgot to include he vast majority of i*****l a***ns - those who sneak over our borders to take advantage of the benefits of a capitalist country. Yet they disparage capitalism, while receiving its benefits.
As for your example, a speeding motorist would be referred to as exactly that - a speeding motorist. Saying they're illegal doesn't adequately describe why they're ilegal.
IOn the other hand 'i*****l a***ns' encompasses all the reasons the alien is here illegally: sneaking in, overstaying their visa, refusing to obey a removal order, etc. It's a perfectly valid, shorthand way of describing those aliens who are in the US without legal justification.

An i*****l a***n is a trespasser who has violated the laws of a sovereign country by crossing its borders without permission from the country they are now in. They did not get permission, a work permit or any other legal document giving them the right to be in the country, but knowingly violated the laws of the sovereign country because they believe that the laws of that country do not pertain to them, and that, therefore, they can choose to ignore them.

They are NOT immigrants. An immigrant is someone who leaves one country, one society, and permanently moves to another country, another society, legally. They apply for citizenship and go through an acceptance procedure. They swear allegiance to their new country and become legal citizens. I*****l a***ns do none of that. They come to the border screaming asylum, are let in and told to come back for a hearing. They do not come back for their hearings, and remain in the country illegally. They are not vetted for disease, criminal history, mental illness and other requirements for citizenship.

Has nothing to do with immigrants. It is an alien (a person belonging to a foreign country or nation.) who is in this country illegally. Now if you'd rather say an illegal person belonging to a foreign country or nation, be my guest. As for being here illegally, whether they overstayed their visa, lied in obtaining a visa, or snuck into the country; the point is they are here illegally.

Kevin:

Illegal is ILLEGAL!

How else can you define the term?

If you come to this country and by-pass the
NORMAL and LEGAL avenues of entrance your are then (Again) ILLEGAL!!!!!

You are also c***ting people who are waiting line enter the country. You are just another
LINE JUMPER and C***T!

If you are a refugee there should be proof and a LEGAL process to come into our country.

There is also a LEGAL Immigrant status where everyone is checked by ICE.

Enough if your BS stories!

It means nothing.

many people like it because the two words label a person without having to define any wrong doing.

Some like it because if fits in short sentences.

Others like that the two words are easy to spell.

Most like it because they see a person who is not from the same neighborhood unlawfully moving on the sidewalk..

But the t***h is that it is all about the secret depot the Chinese spotted on the dark side of the moon, a hereto unknown group, from the far side of the galaxy. setting a base to capture our fine blue world for the energy created by the Moon moving over the deep blue sea and setting in motion tidal energy that they will t***smit to the far far away points in the galaxy and exhaust out not yet know energy for the sake to the intelligent members of the galaxy..

All hope is lost, drink well and deep the end is near..
