Trump Takes Credit For Veterans Choice

McCain pushed it, Obama signed it...

Trump's words were that he got it done when it couldn't be done for 40 years.

It's one thing to wonder what is wrong with this guy... it's another fair question to ask how he can be telling people this and they are too ignorant to know or call him on a lie.

Trump Signs $55 Billion Bill to Replace VA Choice Program
At a Senate news conference last month, Sen. Johnny Isakson, R-Georgia, chairman of the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee and a key sponsor of the bill, and Sen. Jon Tester, the ranking member of the committee, put the total costs at $55 billion, although other estimates have it at $52 billion.
Isakson acknowledged that the bill isn't paid for but said he is working with Sen. Richard Shelby, R-Alabama, chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, to add funding for the bill that would likely balloon the deficit. The White House has argued for funding the bill by cutting other programs.

Well now that is interesting, the H.R.5674 - VA MISSION Act of 2018 was introduced by Rep. Roe, David P. [R-TN-1] on 3 May 2018. McCain died in Aug 2018.... I think he was only doing part time if any work in DC for almost 7 months before he died. Obama left office in Jan 2017. Although he SHOULD have done something to improve the health and welfare of veterans, his solution was to give more funds to the VA who had denied services to sick veterans. Many of those veterans committed suicide. So, I really do not know how you can give him credit. https://www.politifact.com/t***h-o-meter/promises/obameter/subjects/veterans/

On a positive note, these changes to the Vet medical system is long overdue! Thank you President Trump for taking action!!!! https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-bill/5674/text?format=txt

HR 5674 had a short life span, ending in Sept 2018.

Yes, and ovommit took credit for my successful business after I worked 18 hours a day for 6 years straight to make it successful. This in spite of ovommit hurting small business owners every chance he got. I wonder if ovommit took credit for all the business failures too. Oh, that's right he gave his cronies at Solyndra $$$$ millions and then they filed for bankruptcy. Kickback to ovommit?? Ovommit knew nothing of running a business but knew how to run a country into racial division!! How about mooch ovommit's friend getting the mega million $$$ contract for the program to run ovommitcare which had thousands of glitches. Kick back to mooch???

Trump doesn't read and doesn't listen unless it's something about him. His baby sitters no doubt told him that he did this, so give the intellectually challenged guy a break.

What catch? Pennylynn didn't catch anything. Did Woodguru say ANYTHING at all about H.R. 5674?

I see no mention by Woodguru claiming that McCain and Obama had anything at all to do with H.R. 5674. What was it that Pennylynn caught? Is it that Trump signed a piece of legislation that was to benefit the veterans? So what, so did Obama yet you could never be bothered to give him any credit. In fact, Obama did it before Trump did it. I really fail to see what Pennylynn caught.

Pay attention to the accusation and the dates. Maybe by the sixth reading, you'll get it. If your common sense bulb is working. Or you can just keep circling the wagons around your buddies and get skewered by
so many arrows you look like a pin cushion.

I know first hand how the appointments have changed for all of us vets. Last month, when I asked to see an orthopedic surgeon, I was set up with six appointments at an outside medical facility and that has never happened ever before. Things seem to be turning around at the VA health facilities. I received this first appointment less than two weeks after I asked for one. It seems for the time being, I can delay any operation, if the injections I will be given are proven to be helpful. The injections helped with my right knee being painless for years.Just saying there seems to be a light at the end of the tunnel.

The House Wednesday passed by a v**e of 372-70 major veterans legislation to extend and reform the Veterans Choice Program to allow more private care options.
The "VA Mission Act," would also lift the restrictions on family caregiver benefits, which are now limited to post-9/11 veterans, and extend them to the caregivers of veterans of all eras.

The bill will now go to the Senate, where Sen. Johnny Isakson, R-Georgia, chairman of the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee, and Sen. Jon Tester, the ranking member of the Committee, have already expressed their support.
President Donald Trump has said he will sign the bill quickly when it reaches his desk.
