Then where was your foolish outrage when Bush released 500 of these guys. And they estimated that 75 of them got back into the battle. So please you have to be a r****t. This stuff has been going on since Bush stood in front of the sign MISSION ACCOMPLISH 12 years ago. I can show you many signing statements by Bush in war time. Oh no Bush signed with no war his mission was accomplished. Why is there so much outrage now. Okay for the white guy to catch and release, but not the black guy. Signing statement applies to all bills. Don 't you understand that this stuff has been going on for years and not one TP/ republican had any outrage just understand that. Why a firing squad for being AWOL if that was the case the military would have to shot about 25,000 men a year. Not considered a Deserter till after 30 days. Why don't you TP always looking to find a conspiracy why don't TP shut up and wait till the facts are in. Ohhhhh no can't deal with facts don't know how. Just attack. I say it again and again and again this stuff was going on for 8 years under Bush but no outrage. No impeachment talk. That why i bring up Bush because nobody had a problem when Bush did it. And Bush committed the 2 ultimate crimes. Created a war with false intel and torture.

The Supreme Court ruled 5-4 that foreign terrorist suspects held at GITMO had constitutional rights to challenge their detention there. This was an evident unbalance between personal liberties and national security.

Therefore, many detainees, WITH THE HELP OF UNSCRUPULOUS AMERICAN LAWYERS, FORCED BUSH TO RELEASE THEM.

Of course Bush, unlike your mentor Saddam Hussein bin Laden Obama, would never have thumbed HIS nose at the law and gone ahead and kept them there after the crooked lawyers had convinced the courts that they were innocent. Bush was too much the president for that.

I thought you guys were the party of progress, hope and change not SOS?

Exactly I am the party of nobody. I am so agrivated with the politics of this country. I got involved with this site to see where the Tea Party is headed. By talking to middle class Tea party folks you can get a feel for where they want this government to go. But Patty when you bring to light the action of past leaders of this country and the way they blame Obama for everything is wrong. You at times show the focal conservative side which is great. I am all in on that. But I am also a liberal on social issues. I believe we are all created equal. I believe that every man women and child in this country should not be hungry. I believe that everybody should have a choice on quality education. believe in fair taxation. I don't believe in war unless absolutly every avenue has been exhausted. I believe in civil rights. I believe in a******n in the case of rape or incest. I believe in equal pay for women, I believe in smart regulation, I believe in the minimum wage, I believe in the right to v**e, I believe in immaggration, I believe in health care for all. I could go on on but the problems with our government is not the fiscal or social issues it's the way these programs are run but nobody left right or TP discuss how these programs should be run. Privitze on social issues is not the way to go on social issues. Anything that is a for profit will not work because all there concerns are the bottom line.

Now with the condition of our deficit they like to blame a $7 trillion increase on Obama. And you and I both know that is not true but the tea party wants to hold Obama responsible for past presidents bills, and budgets. But nobody wants to look at what really created a $7 trillion increase.

With our social programs in a mess, and with the amount of our tax $ that go to oil company and farm subsidies. The amount of foreign aid, Tax loopholes corporate tax breaks, deregulation and Hedge fund managers with there ability to move money off shore and avoid taxes through deregulation. Why are we not talking about these major issues that really cut down on the revenue into the federal gov. Our social programs should not be in trouble, we are a better country than that.

There are abuses in our social programs and they need to be addressed we all agree to that problem. The ACA has problems but nothing that cannot be fixed. The basic consept of the ACA is great but the TP does not want to even discuss the positive side.

I could go on and on Patty the positives/negatives/ abuses of our goverment but when you try to come up with a common sense approach to dealing with the issues. All I get is Obama is a socialist/muslim/ N**i/Marxist/ birther/terrorist/ dummicrat / Obama lover/ I was even called a F asshole. But I would like to appeal to your conservative side on fiscal issues I would enjoy discussing your conservative side on social issues. But thank you for your responses. Because there is one thing I understand about you is you are very passionate about our government as I am. We may have a different ideological view as how to fix but that's a healthy conversation. Not out of h**e for the president/democrats/ republicans/ Tea Party/ or our government. Thanks for your strong beliefs and your concern for our government.

This is the entire powers of the executive branch.
No where does it say he can make up wh**ever laws he wants but to enforce the laws that congress passes or veto them.
"Art. I, Sec. 7, cls. 2 & 3, grants to the President the power to approve or veto Bills and Resolutions passed by Congress.

Art. I, Sec. 9, next to last clause, grants to the executive Branch – the Treasury Department – the power to write checks pursuant to Appropriations made by law – i.e., by Congress.

Art. II, Sec. 1, cl.1, vests “executive Power” [see below] in the President.

Art. II, Sec. 1, last clause, sets forth the President’s Oath of Office – to “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States”.

Art. II, Sec. 2, cl.1:
•makes the President Commander in Chief of the armed forces when they have been called by Congress into the actual service of the United States. 3
•authorizes the President to require the principal Officers in the executive Departments to provide written Opinions upon the Duties of their Offices.
• grants the President power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for offenses against the United States, 4 but he can not stop impeachments of any federal judge or federal officer.

Article II, Sec. 2, cl. 2 grants to the President the power:
•to make Treaties – with the advice and consent of the Senate. 5
•to nominate Ambassadors, other public ministers and Consuls, federal judges, and various other officers – with the advice and consent of the Senate.

Article II, Sec. 2, cl. 3 grants to the President the power to make recess appointments, which expire at the end of Congress’ next session.

Art. II, Sec. 3:
•Imposes the duty on the President to periodically advise Congress on the State of the Union, and authorizes the President to recommend to Congress such measures as he deems wise.
•Authorizes the President, on extraordinary Occasions, to convene one or both houses of Congress [e.g., when he asks Congress to declare War]; and if both houses can not agree on when to adjourn, he is authorized to adjourn them to such time as he deems proper.
•Imposes the duty upon the President to receive Ambassadors and other public Ministers.
•Imposes the duty upon the President to take care that the Laws be faithfully executed, and
•Imposes the duty upon the President to Commission all the Officers of the United States.

That’s it! Anything else the President does is unlawful and a usurpation of powers not granted.

Yes you are right. But Constituional law is based on the document itself and action of past presidents and was never disputed. I looked at past issues with president with the signing statements gives the president major powers in time of war per the constitution and the war powers act. I Agee with you that something has to be done with the Excurive branch of our government. I am not a Constituional professor we have spend billions of $ on interpretation of that Document. All I do when these types of issues come up I look at past presidents because that tells you the past prescience. But Thank you for your research great job.
