I’ve sent this to everyone I care about in the hope that they will follow suit. Who said we’re ignorant?

The following has been attributed to Lewis Napper, a Jackson, Mississippi computer programmer. He didn't expect his essay -- a tart 10-point list of "rights" Americans don't have -- to become an internet legend. Here's what he has to say:

"We the sensible people of the United States, in an attempt to help everyone get along, restore some semblance of justice, avoid more r**ts, keep our nation safe, promote positive behavior, and secure the blessings of debt-free liberty to ourselves and our great-great-great- grandchildren, hereby try one more time to ordain and establish some common sense guidelines for the terminally whiny, guilt-ridden, delusional. We hold these t***hs to be self-evident: that a whole lot of people are confused by the Bill of Rights and are so dim they require a Bill of NON-Rights:

ARTICLE I: You do not have the right to a new car, big screen TV, or any other form of wealth. More power to you if you can legally acquire them, but no one is guaranteeing anything.

ARTICLE II: You do not have the right to never be offended. This country is based on freedom, and that means freedom for everyone -- not just you! You may leave the room, turn the channel, express a different opinion, etc.; but the world is full of dummies, and probably always will be.

ARTICLE III: You do not have the right to be free from harm. If you stick a screwdriver in your eye, learn to be more careful; do not expect the tool manufacturer to make you and all your relatives independently wealthy.

ARTICLE IV: You do not have the right to free food and housing. Americans are the most charitable people to be found, and will gladly help anyone in need, but we are quickly growing weary of subsidizing generation after generation of professional couch potatoes who achieve nothing more than the creation of another generation of professional couch potatoes.

ARTICLE V: You do not have the right to free health care. That would be nice, but from the looks of public housing, we're just not interested in public health care.

ARTICLE VI: You do not have the right to physically harm other people. If you kidnap, rape, intentionally maim, or k**l someone, don't be surprised if the rest of us want to see you get the blue juice.

ARTICLE VII: You do not have the right to the possessions of others. If you rob, c***t, or coerce away the goods or services of other citizens, don't be surprised if the rest of us get together and lock you away in a place where you still won't have the right to a big screen color TV or a life of leisure.

ARTICLE VIII: You do not have the right to a job. All of us sure want you to have a job, and will gladly help you along in hard times, but we expect you to take advantage of the opportunities of education and vocational training laid before you to make yourself useful.

ARTICLE IX: You do not have the right to happiness. Being an American means that you have the right to PURSUE happiness, which by the way, is a lot easier if you are unencumbered by an overabundance of i***tic laws created by those of you who were confused by the Bill of Rights.

ARTICLE X: This is an English speaking country. We don't care where you came from, English is our language. Learn it!

ARTICLE XI: You do not have the right to change our country's history or heritage. This country was founded on the belief in one true God. And yet, you are given the freedom to believe in any religion, any faith, or no faith at all; with no fear of persecution. The phrase IN GOD WE TRUST is part of our heritage and history, sorry if you are uncomfortable with it."

So you don't put much stock in what Abraham Lincoln says in his Gettysburg speech of every man having certain un-inalienable rights, huh?

So by that line of stinking, the old ,the handicapped, the weak ,the infirmed, no one should bare responsibility for them, to take the issue further, there should not be an argument about a******n,and people of your political persuasion are not being phony when you say you are pro-life, after all you contend that one human bares no responsibility for another. Then you are one whom as I said does not agree with Abraham Lincoln, whom claims every man has rights that cannot be refuted.Hence, parents bare no responsibility to their off spring. Some people think these are the chacrateristics that makes us a higher life form, that also distinguishes from lesser animals. Those stupid ass Hitler people think like that."get rid of the mongrels"!

You're being ridiculous. The whole point of being a conservative is personal responsibility. Personal responsibility includes caring for your children and family and helping those in need to the best of your ability. It's a sad day, tho, when a government run amok with identity politics, "income equity" and other hare brained social programs takes your ability to do the things I listed with usurious taxes taken to A. Enrich themselves; B. Support others of their choosing; and C. Redistribute wealth to countries that h**e us no matter what.

There really is nothing like l*****ts twisting what conservatives actually say to make it seem completely opposite of what is meant. Conservatives give more to charity, not only in money but time and services. Expecting able-bodied people to engage in personal responsibility somehow gets twisted into, you don't care for anyone. Ah and the left "cares" so much they sanctimoniously rob people of their dignity, label them as victims, and tell them they must stay down, because someone, somewhere is keeping them there. The contempt the left actually has for people in need is staggering. The left needs a permanent underclass, in order to make themselves feel important. Conservatives want to see everyone succeed, the left robs people of their initiative to feed their own egos

And then what...they took it off, for what reason? For an appropriated reason I imagine, but you are correct about religious sentiments reaching a peak, which it looks like it is attempting to do again.

Please tell us what hare-brained programs, Medicare or Medicaid, social security, Federal and state welfare programs include, healthcare and medical provisions, food assistance, education and childcare assistance. I know you guys h**ed meals on wheels for the elderly and disabled as in many veterans and canceled that.

No one "enriches " themselves, well ...let me take that back, the corporate welfare certainly does, but you guys never look at them, you are always focused on the impoverished, you're being led around by your noses to do just that. Wake up. Who owns 90% of the wealth, hawkeye them for a while and for a change. You guys are a broken record.

Yes, you exactly right don it is about our society conducting in a higher manner than the Ayn Rand survival of the fittest. We all age and become not as able as we once served but we've contributed our entire adult lives and having programs instituted to help them is the morally conscious thing to do, and the certainly are not hare-brained.

What is hare-brained is creating tariffs, to then only bail out farmers with subsidies.

Apples and oranges and you know it. You finally admitted it; the adamant pro-a******n people are mongrels. Even animals don't terminate their babies lives. If you are a human being with a "soul" you care for others less fortunate not because it is their inalienable right but because it is what we are instructed to do by God.

Well said, Rick! The way Welfare, Food Stamp and Medicaid programs expanded exponentially under the Obama administration shows how much the Democrats "care" for people. Keep them down and out and in control was the motto of that administration. All for the sake of v**es.
