Never was a big fan of the show, but while we're at it...let's showcase UnderDog….

After all, this started out as a thread on dogs.

I remember Underdog too. I thought Might Mouse was cooler.

I have a Basset hound that my wife rescued some 7 or 8 years ago. By accident I ran over him with my pickup, but after a $356.00 vet bill, he survived. Boo is a tough guy and controls the mean things on the ranch.

That's a great line.

Atom Ant? Speedy Gonzalez?

I liked them all but Mighty Mouse was my favorite.

I don’t know about all the show dog competition stuff, but the one in the big photo I could love immediately. Some of the others, too, but not all. I don’t hunt. Just love dogs.

In the mid sixties and early seventies I hunted rabbits with 10 beagles. We had both short and long legged dogs. We could tell what each dog was doing just by listening to them. We had one who was a mix between hot dog and a beagle, really short. He (Freckles) was the best jump dog I've ever seen. He would go into the most God forsaken briars to jump a rabbit. When he'd jumped one, he'd give one bark which brought the pack. Poor little guy couldn't keep up with the pack so he'd start sniffing for another rabbit. If he jumped another rabbit he'd give one bark and half the pack, if they weren't too far to hear him, would cut off and head for him.

One of the good things about hunting with either Bassets or Beagles is they don't push the game too fast which Walkers, Blue Ticks and Red Bone hounds do.

Here in Va. east of the Blue Ridge we hunt deer with dogs. I personally don't care to ever shoot another deer but still get up at O dark thirty just to listen to them do their thing. Their voices in the early morning mist with frost on everything is magical. Mike

My last golden retriever I hunted with was absolutely amazing. Problem was, if I hit a rabbit but didn’t stop it, that dog would chase it down, catch it, and bury it unless I caught up quickly enough. I usually got the rabbit, but God only knows how many I didn’t find.

That's a Golden. They are stupid like a fox. We had a Golden as a family dog. Man do I love that breed. Bassets and Beagles are very human liking dogs too. Don't know about Bassets but Beagles make lousy house dogs in my experience. Hard to house break. They are after all hounds. Mike

Stupid like a fox. Funny, but OH so true!
My golden I have now is named after a
“Benign yet mischievous spirit that always appears in large animal form”.

Anyone have a guess to His name ?
