The one in the big photo is really nice, looks as if the dog could work all day. A couple of the others have soft toplines indicating a propensity for back problems. All, as I can see them, have wide open nostrels, so would have fewer breathing problems, enough keel to support the upper arm return. Look like nice hunting pack hounds.

I don’t know about all the show dog competition stuff, but the one in the big photo I could love immediately. Some of the others,too, but not all. I don’t hunt. Just love dogs.

As a kid in the mid-50s, I loved 'The People's Choice.' It featured a talking Basset Hound named Cleo.

The real test is in the work. If they can go all day with no issues then it works. That is the ultimate test IMO.
Agree though about how a couple look. I'd still take them over the show version though.
