Religious question; What scripture in the Bible explains the hierarchy, or command structure, of the Catholic Church?

There isn't one. The hierarchy is not biblical.

Then is the Catholic Church a throwback to the Pharisees who advocated crusifying Christ?

No. But they claim that Peter was the first pope when biblical evidence points to him never even having been to Rome.

There is a lot of material out there on why Peter wasn't the first pope and there is also material on Catholic sites that claim he is. I would suggest reading both and then decide which you believe. You can also read the differing doctrines.

Thank you Rose42. I just finished reading the THE APPLICATION STUDY BIBLE. Did not ever read anything justifying the Catholic Church.

The structure of the Catholic church is a reflection of the Roman empire. It was structured by Rome and the format continues to this day.

And I'd also like to add, Hug, that its important to learn, in your studies, to discern the difference between God's words and man rules. Man rules are most always hierchal societally in some way. Gods laws are more in the vein of personal responsibility etc. IMO.

Yes, historical evidence points to Julius Caesar as the first pontifex maximus in 64 b.c.

Part of the disconnect, the bible is man's words, not god's... and deeply subject to man's foibles and politics, the politics of controlling people.

No they are Gods words penned by man. Its the interpretation that gets twisted.

Could it be possible that the Catholic Church falls within the category of false teachers that the writers of the New Testament warned so much about?

Doubtful...

They are simply a different brand of Christianity...

Recall that Paul used words such as Bishop in his writings... This would indicate that there was a hierarchy at the time...
