well it's been a few days(years) since I was around school aged children

We have some new neighborhood families with school age youngsters. We have talk in the street conversations. Because their youngsters are young, they only do half a sandwich. They are doing what I did. Sandwich on whole grain bread, two or three vegetable strips, fresh fruit and a cookie. They are using chicken, ham or roast beef from their dinner for the sandwich. One day per week is buy lunch. Our schools do pizza one day per week.

Everyone of us is born under a death sentence. Something is going to k**l you. Death by steak and lobster tail don't sound so bad.

Some want to take their money with them when they die, so they just won't go, no matter how much we wish it.

If you had a long life and a healthy family, that is as good as it gets. No one gets out of this world alive.

You are so right!! If only we could afford fresh lobster!! We have the mini kind. Crawdads. It just isn't the same. Not knocking crawdads, but with lobster, it's a lot less work for a meal!

I use to "assembly line" sandwich making on Sunday evenings, put in a ziplock sandwich bag, vegetable sticks, a piece of fresh fruit, put in a brown bag and line them up in the frig. We did four days. Friday was usually pizza, chicken nuggets or hamburger so a school lunch was purchased.

We used to get a Tuna Salad on a hot dog bun on Fridays at one school I went to and I can still remember how good they were! Had a friend who'd trade me his for my dessert. Mmmmm!!

This is one of my hot button subjects. It truly is not that hard to feed your child a healthy bag lunch. The meme of it is so hard for working mothers is garbage. I worked for several years, outside the home, made dinner, school lunches, etc., etc., etc. There is this big word with multiply syllables which needs to be learned, ie. organization!

Mom did her duty as far as lunches go, never fear. Sometimes the Cafeteria had a meal we liked and we splurged a little. My sister and I are a year+ apart, then came Mike 5 years later. Beth & Jim are 14 & 16 years behind me.

Some people just don't get it.
:-( :-(

Dang, that made me exceedingly hungry. Hold the bread; less room for ribs, bacon, and lard.

Some things never change. I remember school lunches from 65 years ago. Sounds like they have not improved.

We all had less then.

But did we really feel that we were missing much?

Wast it just because we were kids?

During high school I worked at a bowling alley. I didn't make much & I don't remember the cost or the year but it was about the same time. 7" screen.

Now I look at those 70" screens & if I had an area big enough I would get one.

mine is 30" in a 16 foot room and that is more than enough, you would need a 50 or 60 foot room for that 70"

Dear Archie Bunker and all other gourmets:It is true that edibles which are fattening and generally injurious to our health are also the best tasting and satisfying. To my knowledge, there is nothing tastier that a double cheeseburger with bacon, lettuce and tomato(and don't forget a pile of fries). If that isn't on the menu, some fried chicken will do.
Certainly,in general, eat healthy, but go crazy now and then and indulge in truely sumptuous fare.
After all,you only live once. Zeno
