My parents came to visit me in LA recently, from my hometown in Illinois. They are the sweetest, warmest, supportive, most generous people on earth – but over the past few years I’ve picked up on distinct symptoms of Fox News brain poisoning.

During their trip we were just h*****g out and chatting when my dad, unprompted, says “They say there’s a lot of Mexicans here in Southern California.” Uh, yeah, dad. This actually used to be Mexico, so I think some people of Mexican descent may have stuck around. Then my mom chimes in: “Oh sure, they just come right over.” The implication being that they all scaled a wall, and not considering that most families have been here for generations, descended from people who migrated here for a better life just like our own ancestors did.

It does feel a bit like you’ve lost a loved one to Fox News poisoning. It’s a hard thing when the glowing prism through which we view the ones we love is shattered, and there’s no way to put that image of them back together again.

In reference to your last paragraph, have you given any thought to the possibility that your parents may be having exactly those same thoughts and feelings about you and your viewpoints? I see the same problem in my own small family. We cannot really discuss these issues, because I want to discuss the ISSUES, not this president. I want to discuss the results for our country 50-100 years from now of allowing the USA to be overwhelmed by 2-3 new foreigners every year, the majority coming from third world cesspit nations, having lived in poverty and local violence for generations, having never done anything to change anything about their homes, having no education/no knowledge about how successful nations/peoples operate, having no pr********n for living in a democratically run nation much less a republic one, a people coming here totally focused on material things. An ever-increasing many, many tens of millions of foreign noncitizens living here grabbing every possible advantage for themselves but never becoming an American, a real actual part of the USA. This, due to their huge numbers and ungrateful attitudes, does, and will, impact impact every aspect of the USA and much of the impact will be negative for the future of this nation. But no one wants to discuss these real critical issues that are determining the future America that all of our great grandchildren's great grandchildren will be living in. But these are things we should all be concerned about, the future of OUR country and OUR descendants, rather than literally turning the country and the future over to foreign strangers with no stake in our country or our future.

Sorry for your family fued over politics. It is similar in my family. I have a zillionaire uncle who we all love and who is a dev**ed Fox news brainwashed fool. Most of the Democrats in our family keep him angry with us. My brothers are whacked out and gaga over Trump and all the wonderful things he is doing for our country. I just ignore them and sometimes I mention things that they agree with and it blows their minds. That said I consider myself to be a moderate though I am called a Liberal. About Liberal-- It used to mean forward thinking and good for the benefit of society but now it is used as a slur and a term for a c*******t enemy of the state. Thanks Fox news you divided America.

Sorry, but FOX news has divided America no more than any of the other news sources and is no more slanted or wrong than they. I agree about liberalism of long ago, because I used to be one, but so much has changed in the USA over the past 50 or so years. Liberalism today is something different, The democrat party today is something different. Congress today is different. The media today is very different. The military has involved itself in social issues where it has no business or purpose. Our government agencies have become politicized and militarized, no longer working for the USA or the citizens. In the USA, the radicals in every sphere have taken over, hellbent determined that it's their way and only their way. So much has changed so drastically, that, indeed, our country is different, but not better. Same is true of the world today. The only winners today seem to be the ultra rich elite globlists around the world and the third world cesspit nations using their poorest citizens to exploit more successful nations.

Strange. I watch Fox and feel re-energized. Better still when I watch The Five on Fox I find myself laughing out loud. Over current events. Contrast that with, for example, The View. Same number of people and also usually current events. Except I find myself uptight, not relaxed, and never laughing. I don't enjoy it.
No thanks!
Back to Fox for some news broadcast in an entertaining way.

The following 8 pieces are from an article describing what is being called FOX news brain, and the damage it is doing to American families. Read this and don’t make your family one of the victims.

I love my mother. She is one of the kindest and sweetest people you will ever meet and I would be nothing without her. I’ve never heard her say a bad word about anyone, never mind anything overtly terrible, like the type of thing, for example, you might hear from Tucker Carlson or Sean Hannity. But I do know, much to my dismay, that she has watched them on TV a lot over the years. As such, my mom and I have agreed to not talk about politics anymore. The cognitive dissonance between this lovely woman finding something appealing in the most xenophobic pundits on TV is too hard for me to reconcile. I don’t want to think about it.

It turns out there are a lot of families across the country who have a similar arrangement, or worse, in which people have stopped talking altogether to relatives they feel have been stolen from them by Fox News.

To be clear, Fox News didn’t invent the w***e s*******y and r****m at the heart of America, but the channel has definitely supercharged it. It’s also important to point out that “My parents watched the bad TV and got r****t off it” is clearly a much less serious problem than being someone whose life is put at risk by the type of stuff Fox News promotes. That doesn’t make seeing someone you care about slide into the myopic bubble of right wing propaganda any easier.

I mentioned the idea of losing family to Fox News brain on Twitter the other day, and unsurprisingly, a lot of people had their own similar stories. I asked some of them to share how it felt.

Here’s a collection of the stories people shared.

Sad how you must label those you disagree with as r****ts. I hope it is a very long long time before people who think like you and Obama are allowed to take power in America again.

Please tell us the definition of treason. I can’t wait to hear your version.

Liberals are no different than have ever been and like wise for conservatives. It was money in our politics that changed the Democratic party as well as the Republican party although the Republican party has been known as the party of big business since probably the 1890'S. By the 1980's the democratic party wanted o be as far away from the FDR new deal as they could get as they curried big business for their share of the corporate l**t. Every war the military industrial complex got us in to refugees from those wars wound up in the bay area. Vietnamese, Afghans, Pakistani, Iraqi, Somali, Lebanese, when jobs could not be hipped over seas corporations sent agents to Mexico to recruit workers for the meat packing industry, construction industry. I saw a Mexican in MNexico being interviewed , he said it the American people dont want us why do your businesses recuit us. What makes you think liberals want all these foreigners in our midsts. We dont like it any more than you do butyour leaders say because we believe in followig the law we want open boarders. We don't want open boarders but we don't want a wall either. We've done enough of that in our gated communities walled ourselves in -- imprisoned our selves. In the 1950's we didn't even lock our doors, nobody wanted our junk. The nation has gone berzerk.

Thomas Frank the Historian wrote in hi Book " Whats The Matter With Kansas " about the poor gathering at the gate to Mission Hills a Kanas City millionaire community a suburb of Kansas City. The crowd he writes, grumbling, flying the black f**g, shaking their fists and as the millionaires tremble in their mansions they shout out their terifying demand. We are hear they scream to "CUT YOUR TAXES"

Google today's date (Saturday) and Greg Gutfeld. Then videos. You won't regret it. As long as you're a Gutfeld fan that is. If you're not then please disregard.
