You are using a ridiculous and incorrect analogy. The politically correct expression was not to swap sex centered labels like salesman to saleswoman, but to eliminate them by saying salesperson. Stewards and stewardesses have become flight attendants. Mailmen have become postal carriers.
But now the g****r neutral is being replaced in the PC world with wh**ever g****r the person you are addressing or referring to chooses to be at the moment, whether the speaker knows what your preference is or not. So using a g****r neutral term can actually get you in trouble. on the other hand, there is the teacher who wants her class to address her in the Royal We since she can't make up her mind whether she is a man or woman. She sent home notices to parents on exactly how the students were to address her. Also, tenses can, and in fact MUST be thrown out as g****r correctness take priority over whether or not the pronoun is singular or plural. 'She' or 'he' is replaced by 'they'.
If all this sounds confusing or contradictory, the only thing that matters is no liberal or progressive or deserving minority be offended. Majorities or minorities who are not favored by the left can be offended or reviled at will.
So have I covered the rules?
