How many times has one been told that such and such a term is rude, or demeaning, or triggering?

How often are one's choice of words attacked rather than one's argument?

How can the actions of one group be acceptable whereas the same actions from another group are considered bigoted or biased?

I have no trouble admitting that the concept of PC has escaped me... I am constantly corrected by both friends and family whenever I visit home... "Man, you can't say that anymore" or "Son, that's not acceptable talk these days"...

So I ask my fellow OPP members...

What is "Political Correctness"?

How and when should it be employed?

How has it improved our society?

My thanks to all members...

Political correctness is a way of avoiding the old idiom, "walking on eggshells."

To be politically correct is easy if your prone to uncontrollable crying, no-one can ever question a grown man in tears, doesn't matter what your face looks like, please allow me to give an example of senile craftiness, Hillary Clinton of course but is it politically correct to bring up Hillary if she's not running in 2020, it could be my whole post is a misnomer.

I have considered the matter deeply and arrived at a conclusion to plough Hillary into the fields as fertilizer, rt is forever a friend to the green green grass of home so the labour I exerted in the paragraph above was political correctness employed properly, least we forget and repeat Hillary Clinton.

Society is a struggle to remain on the same page, wh**ever is written on the page is greatly important even if untrue.

Political correctness disregards the fact and assumes anything in common is the major consideration, so we can agree to disagree which should be the first sentence, and the second sentence must elaborate drought one pestilence, exposing them that are pests in both dry and wet conditions, only after that exposure can political correctness serve society correctly.

That is an example of political correctness in my opinion, now !! for analytical reasons I will give an example of political incorrectness.

Read no further to avoid offence, you have been warned.

Who best cackles like Hillary Clinton? There is a record number of women running to be the Dems candidate in 2020 so the choice isn't easy, but I'll go for, Kamala Harris.

My sincere apologies, but I was only giving an example so others might be able to identify the problum.

Why would one walk on eggshells?

I agree... And it is easier to converse when you are not vetting everything that comes to mind before it leaves your mouth...(as if there were time )

Harry Truman describe political correctness as the theory that it was possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

As clarification for others only (as I know you are aware of the word), an idiom is a group of words established by usage as having a meaning not deducible from those of the individual words.
