Trucker bombs, and immigrant bombs too.

Luckily we have plenty of woods handy and old logging and survey roads everywhere...very convenient.

If you're driving a tractor trailer, you can stand between the drivers on the tractor, act like you're checking something, and handle business. In a van, or passenger vehicle, pop the hood, and do the same thing.

My wife did that to me when my blood pressure got really bad. Now, I take no medications, and I'm fine.

Cutting down on salt was huge! Now, I find restaurant food salty most of the time.

Also, I only drink water most of the time. A little coffee, and some beer. I like my beer. But not to excess.

Mama uses the crock pot to make delicious meals
however her health is starting to fail
and now she just can't do what she used to do
we are now guilty of eating more processed food than we would like to

Don’t give up a little beer! Every life needs a little sunshine.

I would say that most of our meals are made from scratch with the freshest ingredients that can be found.
Because of our work schedules, and a busy life, we make big batches of stuff, and eat leftovers for a few days so we don't have to cook every day.

I want to look into making bread too. I've never done that. My granny did, and it was wonderful.

I'm big on packaging too. The amount of plastic that we put into the ground is staggering. Let alone what is scattered along roads, and everywhere else.

That's how we roll, I make huge batches of spaghetti sauce with tomatoes, mushrooms, garden herbs, and olives, then make a large enough lasagna (8 pounds of cheese) that we freeze enough for several other dinners and lunches. It's nice when I'm cooking for my wife when she gets home to cook up some fresh tortellini or noodles and the sauce is already made. We've taken to rice spaghetti noodles, they have a really good tooth feel like the perfect pasta does. Chili is another thing I make huge batches of, I'll cut up an 8 or 10 pound butt roast for the meat. We make a few soups in large batches we really like too.

We're big on picking fruit and canning or freezing some of it for cobblers. Lot of work picking blackberries, but blackberry jam or frozen and sugared to make cobbler with, can't decide whether I like peach or blackberry best. We've also got rasberries in the garden, my wife just ordered some b****s we'll need to plant in the next week or so when they come.

I'll look up the bread maker we have, it was given to us by a friend for Christmas a few years back, and it turned out to do a really good job, easy too. I flip flop between Rye and French bread every other day. I researched what was the best yeast, baking powder, and even flour and get those ingredients on Amazon. One of the things we've figured out is that the ingredients make a big difference. Bread can be made easily in the evenings too, I'm partial to an evening snack of fresh hot bread with butter, the crust is the bomb. Roast beef or ham sandwiches out of the Rye with some dill pickle and white farmer's cheese... that's a sandwich.

I'm with you all on the processed food thing

I have a fair sized garden and can, dry or freeze the excess. We have chickens for meat and eggs on the farm and hunt most seasons. I now live alone but since I’ve done most of the cooking for the last 25 years it wasn’t too hard to bring it down to one person meals. I’ve cut all pop out of my diet and am working on most refined sugar now. But yes I like sustainability and homegrown foods whenever possible

[quote=byronglimish]Processed foods.....if we take an actual look at our garbage output.

Processed food packaging is a huge enemy to the environment.

I would be interested in hearing who still makes most of their meals from scratch.

Processed foods are polluted with all manner of man-made foreign material.

Not only does processed food harm the environment near land fills and dumps with tons and tons of packaging.

It also is the cause of many of our ails.[/quote

The issue with plastic is, that 90% of the waste in the ocean comes from Asia and Africa.
If we stop polluting , the mess will keep growing. How do we convince China to stop dumping waste into the ocean ?

At least make your own bread. with the bread machines to do the kneading part it is really easy. Follow the receipes, weigh carefully and let the machine do the rest. Make hot dog and hamburger buns too. The machine we have is at least 15 years old and still works fine.

We can't convince China much of anything.

They are the world's impending downfall.

I'm kinda wishing that MacArthur would have gotten the 30 to 50 nukes he ask for to deal with China, when they were still manageable.

China is leading the world in the development of sustainable energy... They are also beginning to ban certain plastics... Like straws... They won't give up an economic edge by Shutting down current factories though... They think you guys are crazy to butcher your economy that way...

The change in the environment over here over the last fifteen years has been amazing...

There is nothing like home made meals.

I took you for a much younger man... My apologies if anything I have posted to you was disrespectful or overly aggressive....

I too find canned food to be unappealing...

What they are doing with Taiwan and the artificial islands, with their armed fishing vessels is the d**gon becoming a reality.

That's the thing we appreciate about President Trump, he's trying to unfoul our economy.

The stranglehold of the last administration was purpose filled hatred of the very nation that Obama swore to uphold.

I believe that China is going to keep on keeping on.

The situation should never have come about...
