Hi Peewee... Hope you are well...

You have never hurt that I have seen... And I appreciate the efforts to help...

Quote:
The Torah and the Chritian Bible is believed to the inspired word of God. The problem is when we clash on what the scriptures say and what Church doctrine teaches. Doesn't matter what denomination you belong to. If your doctrine doesn't line up with scripture there are problems. Scripture, for instance, can vary from what Bible you use. When you go from Hebrew to Greek to Latin to English the words sometimes don't convey the original Hebrew meaning, just right. I've had to correct many of my ideas over the years when I learned more about a Hebrew word and its meaning. But most translations still do a pretty good job so that 2 to 3,000 years later you still get the meaning of the scriptures. Some translations are trash and that's being kind. One example is Matt. 5:22. My Bible has the word 'Raca' and it's translated in most Bibles as 'angry'. Using the word Raca subjects one to judgment, by the Sanhedrin. But whoever says 'You Fool', shall be in the danger of hellfire. I get angry with a lot of people but I never call anyone a fool. Matt. 23:9 Do not call anyone on earth Father, for One, is your Father. He who is in heaven. Both of these are spoken by Jesus.
So I hope you see how this conflicts with denominations who call people fools and Father, yet say they serve and follow Jesus.
The Torah and the Chritian Bible is believed to th... (show quote)

I agree... And I believe that one must also include Aramaic in the mixture... Much can be lost or altered in the process of translation... And many people interpret passages differently... It seems to me (and this is Just an observation) that the Lord would have established a system (church) to ensure that the teachings were properly understood and spread... It is rare enough for two individuals to agree on an interpretation, let alone millions... And each translation Leads to different 'flavors' of understanding... In my opinion, only God Himself fully comprehends His word... And as such it falls to all of His children to remain humble in our understanding of His word...

Your example of the word 'Raca'... Is Angry the only emotion involved? What about righteous anger? Or the anger of ignorance?
Continuing... Is 'fool' the only term not allowed? What of its many variations? Idiot, moron, halfwit, newfie, dumbass, etc... Do these terms also apply?

Continuing... "Matt. 23:9 Do not call anyone on earth Father, for One, is your Father. He who is in heaven."... Note the capitalization of the 'F' in the word Father... Is Jesus speaking of the biological father all families have? Or is refering to another Father... The Lord our God... Our heavenly Farther... If read that way this is yet another admonishment not to place any above God... The capitalization is not Common in English grammar... And is usually used to denote a difference or a distinction...

Quote:
This is where most of the conflicts come from. Hope I have explained it well enough that you understand us a little better. We do our best to follow scripture and we're not perfect and know, no one is. But if you teach others error that you know are errors and refuse to correct an error when it's pointed out, that's a little different. That does cause our anger. We don't chop anyone's head off or burn them at the stake. Sometimes we walk away, but if they get an attitude we can too and do so many times. 1 Peter 3:15 Always be prepared to give a defense to anyone who asks you the reason for the hope that is within you, with meekness and fear, having a good conscience. So that when they defame and revile your good conduct in Christ, they may be ashamed.
This is where most of the conflicts come from. Ho... (show quote)

Agreed... We are none of us perfect... And as such must be exceedingly careful in judging others...

And one should never teach errors.. Nor should one remain obstinate in the face of an error...

And yet... If one is not perfect, and encounters a difference of opinion, one should be wary of attempting to 'correct' that opinion...

"1 Peter 3:15 Always be prepared to give a defense to anyone who asks you the reason for the hope that is within you, with meekness and fear, having a good conscience. So that when they defame and revile your good conduct in Christ, they may be ashamed."

All well and good... Buy what if no one asks you? What if another merely expresses an understanding that is different than yours? Is this an attack on your faith?
I hope that I have never 'defamed or reviled' another's faith... That would be truly shameful...
A defense must come in response to an attack...

Quote:
It's the 'meekness and fear' we have a problem with. Especially if someone is being self-righteous because a denomination is bigger or older than everyone else's and only they have the truth and belong to the right
church. It's partially a dispute, caused by pride, but it's also about souls being saved and not led astray.

I don't see how this argument applies to this thread... Was Zemirah's thread a response to an attack by the Catholics? The season of Easter is upon us and I have yet to see a single thread 'attacking' those that choose not to celebrate the festival...
I can only see one attack in this thread... And from my perspective (Which may be wrong) it is against any who are not Protestants/Evangelicals...
I am neither Catholic nor Protestant, and have no quarrel with either side... Yet my faith has been denied... That to me is a judgement only the Lord can make...

Quote:
Hope I've helped and not hurt. Not everyone is as nice or polite as Canadians.

You have helped greatly... And I appreciate your efforts... I fully admit that I lack understanding of many aspects of our Lord... It's one of the reasons I enjoy speaking with others.... And I have many questions... I also enjoy your asking questions... One of the quotes I had to look up.. But Matt 5:22 is a favorite of mine...

Hope you are well this morning... I'm off to class... Thanks again for your friendship....

Hi Peewee... Hope you are well... br br You have ... (show quote)

I alive and well and haven't been to bed yet. But it is starting to call me. Hope teaching today is a blast.

Once again you are correct on the verses. I don't know what version of the Bible you have or if you have

them all on your phone and at your fingertips. The Bible is a unique book, there isn't another one like it

anywhere in the world. You can read the surface text and understand the story just fine. The more you read

and study it, you start to notice a subtext, then you start checking the OT to the NT and vice vera and you

see connections. Then you look up Hebrew words to get a better understanding. You might purchase

additional books and a concordance such as Strong's. And after twenty or thirty years you think you know it

pretty well. You haven't even scratched the surface. There are all kinds of hidden treasure in it. Little clues

or nuggets God drops for you to find if you seek Him. For example, if you find the Hebrew meaning of the

names of the patriarchs and write them out you discover a message. From Adam to Noah reveals this: Man

is appointed to mortal sorrow, the blessed God, He who descends is dedicated, His death shall bring the

despairing, comfort and rest. Pretty cool eh? I know you want another one, how about the twelve sons of

Jacob. From Ruben to Benjamin: Behold a son, hear him, and be joined, give him praise, judge his, strife

and, his fortune, happy and blessed, he brings rewards, dwelling with us, he shall increase, the son of my

right hand. And there are many more nuggets. If you have a Hebrew Bible and count the letters right to left

every 50th letter the entire books of Genesis and Exodus spells Torah in Hebrew. Nothing in Leviticus.

Numbers and Deuteronomy do the same thing except backward. It's like God is pointing to Leviticus, the

Law. Do I understand everything in it correctly, no way, not if I lived ten thousand years? Then there is that

all too human side of us. That sin nature that we never really can get rid of entirely. Why was I born in a

certain city, in a certain state, why were my parents poor, etc... until you drive yourself nuts? Because it was

God good pleasure to plant me there. Because my character would be shaped a certain way so that I could

do His will in certain areas. As far as I know, God only spoke to me once inside my head at around age six. I

was walking through the house headed outside and the voice said: "you will live to see Jesus return". I'd

never been to church and all I knew about Jesus was the Christmas play at school. But it helped me to be

bold and fearless because I learned later that God doesn't lie. I hope you are able to share the gospel in

China and I know it's dangerous. But I hope you do it anyway. The gospel is the Good News and it was

meant to be shared. Every church fits into one of the seven churches in Revelations. We have to figure out

which one we want to be a part of. The underground church is the one most alive. I hope you get to visit

one. Christians had to speak and write in code and that's why Revelations is so hard to understand. I may be

wrong but I think it points out pretty clearly the false prophet is the Pope. Just my opinion. If you didn't see

or hear about it, the Pope was playing games today, people would approach him, bend to kiss his ring and

he would jerk his hand back and move them along. Don't know how many people he disappointed, but the

news showed about a dozen. Some Vicar of Christ, eh? You have to decide what you believe and who you

believe. Everyone does. Even if you don't decide, you've decided. No fence sitting with Jesus is allowed. Just

my opinion again. Now I have to crash. Can't stay up two and three days like I used to.

Peewee put that very nicely. However there are core principles that are crystal clear. we are warned to “See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ. Col 2:8

Organized religion is a human invention and with that comes the problems. Christ’s church is not Catholic, orthodox, baptist, methodist, lutheran, muslim, mormon or any other. It is comprised of those who submit to Christ as Lord and Savior. Thats it.

The real danger comes from straying from God’s word and trying to rationalize or explain away its truths. Not everyone is going to agree on the meaning of all verses but the doctrine of salvation is not ambiguous. It is Satan that wants people to add in pagan practices and worship of false Gods and he’s very successful at leading people astray.

I see no issues with people celebrating Christmas or Easter as long as the intent is right. I grew up Catholic and it was a sin to eat meat on Friday or eat within an hour of the Catholic communion. It was a sin to not go to mass on those days. There is no biblical basis for these or many other things various denominations do.

There will always be friction no matter how the truth is shared because it is man’s nature to love the world.

Fasting and praying is a spiritual discipline. It draws a person closer to God.
Not eating meat on Fridays, or on Wednesday is a personal discipline.
Eating meat during olden days was a luxury. There are many ways of fasting and abstinence during Lent. Lent is the preparation of the believer for Easter through prayer, doing penance, mortifying the flesh, repentance of sins, almsgiving, and denial of ego or self.

Rules relating to fasting pertain to the quantity of food allowed on days of fasting, while those regulating abstinence refer to the quality or type of food. The Christian tradition of fasts and abstinence developed from Old Testament practices, and were an integral part of the early church community, thru the Apostles' Sacred Traditions.

1. Jesus expects us to fast.
Matthew 6:16-18 “And when you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.”

2. Humble yourself before God.
Psalm 35:13 Yet when they were ill, I put on sackcloth and humbled myself with fasting. When my prayers returned to me unanswered.
Ezra 8:21 And there by the Ahava Canal, I gave orders for all of us to fast and humble ourselves before our God. We prayed that he would give us a safe journey and protect us, our children, and our goods as we traveled.
2 Chronicles 7:14 if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
James 4:10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.

3. Distress and grief
Judges 20:26 Then all the people of Israel, the whole army, went up and came to Bethel and wept. They sat there before the Lord and fasted that day until evening, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the Lord.
2 Samuel 3:35 Then they all came and urged David to eat something while it was still day; but David took an oath, saying, “May God deal with me, be it ever so severely, if I taste bread or anything else before the sun sets!”
1 Samuel 31:13 Then they took their bones and buried them under a tamarisk tree at Jabesh, and they fasted seven days.

4. Repentance
1 Samuel 7:6 When they had assembled at Mizpah, they drew water and poured it out before the Lord. On that day they fasted and there they confessed, “We have sinned against the Lord.” Now Samuel was serving as leader of Israel at Mizpah.
Joel 2:12-13 “Yet even now,” declares the LORD, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning; and rend your hearts and not your garments.” Return to the LORD your God, for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love; and he relents over disaster.
Nehemiah 9:1-2 Now on the twenty-fourth day of this month the people of Israel were assembled with fasting and in sackcloth, and with earth on their heads. And the Israelites separated themselves from all foreigners and stood and confessed their sins and the iniquities of their fathers.

5. Spiritual strength. Overcoming temptation and dedicating yourself to God.
Matthew 4:1-11 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.” Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God. Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple.“If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written: “He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test. Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.” Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’ Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.”

6. Discipline
1 Corinthians 9:27 But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

7. Strengthen prayers
Matthew 17:21 “But this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”
Ezra 8:23 So we fasted and petitioned our God about this, and he answered our prayer.

8. Express love and worship to God.
Luke 2:37 and then as a widow until she was eighty-four. She did not depart from the temple, worshiping with fasting and prayer night and day.

9. Guidance and help making important decisions.
Acts 13:2 While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”
Acts 14:23 Paul and Barnabas appointed elders for them in each church and, with prayer and fasting, committed them to the Lord, in whom they had put their trust.
James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.

10. Drawing closer to God and separating yourself from the world.
James 4:8 Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
Romans 12:1-2 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

These are 2000 years of Biblical history which are carried forward from the Apostles sacred Tradition, and the Holy Scriptures. The One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church carry that Sacred Tradition and the Scriptures.

One of your best posts ever Rose! Anyone who seeks God and follows Jesus is on the right track. We really differ on only a few things. The word tells us that God wanted Israel to be a nation of priests. They missed that mark. So God punished them and began to bless the Gentiles. Today, He is returning to His first love the Jews again. That's why I so happy to see Trump blessing Israel so that we will continue to be blessed. The end is drawing near, most everyone I know senses it. The nations are even aligning as foretold. Keep your eyes on the mark and finish well. Keep your eyes on this Pope and watch how he treats Israel. Count the times he mentions Jesus when he speaks. I heard that he has been forced to step down but it hasn't been announced officially. Time will tell. Whenever I think I've got it all figured out God does something different than I expected, yet He never lies. Our job is not to be deceived and lose our faith and prize at the finish line. Satan will be using every trick in his bag to deceive us because he knows his time is growing short. Jesus wants 'all' to come to Him. Even if they are not Catholic. Even the thief on the cross was saved.
He believed in Jesus and it was enough. Blessings to you and yours. I bid you peace.

Hi Peewee,

I also think its a good thing Trump did that. I have not heard that about the pope but I fully expect more overture to islam. Both religions will play an important role in the end times and one world order. I’m not well versed in it but I see more outreach by Catholics.

Its hard to see people on the wrong path especially family. The father of lies is working overtime.

I will pay more attention to what the pope says. Appreciate the info.

Blessings to you and yours as well Peewee. Stay strong.

Okay Peewee, bring it on. I don't mind you praying to the Lord differently, but prayers are all for the glory of God. Who am I to judge which is the right prayer or not? But God loves us all though we pray to Him, differently on various ways.
Prayer is the way in which we communicate with God, and he wants to get to know us better.

John 5:14
14 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.

Ephesians 6:18
18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

Radiance, I didn't mention anything in my post about prayer. I think you are an awesome defender of the Catholic Church. I don't question your faith at all. As long as we obey God and follow Jesus and stick to scripture we should be the best of friends. I watch Pope Francis very closely because he is unlike most other popes. He just gives me bad vibes and does strange things and has caused a lot of problems for the faithful inside and outside the Catholic Church. True or not true?

Peewee, I don't mean to challenge you.
Prayers are true to all Christians. Prayer is communicating with God, and it is good. I love all Christians, no matter how they worship the Lord in different ways. In fact to be honest, I love all of you, except when they call me Pagan. It hurts me so much.

You are so interested talking about the Pope. Did you talk to him personally?
I don't pay attention what the Pope is doing. Although I'm closer to the previous ones. Saint Pope John Paul II, is one of my favorites. But all I do is pray, and ask God for mercy. Indeed I pray and praise the Lord a lot.

May God bless you.

Great reply and no I don't talk with the Pope. I do try and keep up with what he is doing and saying because I love Bible prophecy and he has enormous influence on world events for good or bad.
