Please permit me to review a little elementary school civics.
There are 3 branches of government. Judicial, legislative and executive.
Legislative makes the laws. The executive branch executes the laws and the judicial passes judgement on the legality of the laws as regards to adhering to the Constitution.

Congress passed no law to permit k*****g anyone therefore the Supreme Court had nothing to act on nor did the president.
This whole thing is in response to some Texas person suing to gain what she and her lawyers presented as a 'right' to control her body. It went all the way to the Supreme Court and the 'Roe vs Wade' decision was handed down. Like most decisions, this one morphed into the 'right' to k**l infants. The failure was the defenders of babies was to show when life began. Had they taken the standard of life begins at conception, there would be no discussion of it today and approximately 50 million lives would have been spared. That is lot of little people who never got to draw a breath.

Seriously? Congress passed the law, SCOTUS upheld it as law. Pretty simple. If you have served in the military defending the Constitution since 1776, you still have one v**e and one opinion. Trying to make what you say or think grander by always repeating your years of service is getting tired. Thank you for your great service, but enough. Just speak like a citizen.

I have been without internet access since my last post. If my repeating of years in service offends you, in future replies to your posts I will refrain from my boring you with those facts. I am a citizen. And under the Constitution I have the right to speak as I chose to speak. The same right you have. I do not seek grander. I never ask for Veteran or Senior discounts. Having the freedom of free speech, I am beginning to see that here in what is supposed to be an open forum. I am being told that I have to refrain from what I post. rumitoit, I will no longer bore you with my service.

Sarge. Don't allow any of the 'civilians' on here to even suggest what to include in your posts. You have every right in the world to be proud and even brag on your service. If that rankles some of the dwellers on here, reckon that qualifies as tough s.... Let them read something else, preferably somewhere else.

I did my time and I am proud of every minute of it and there isn't a soul that can take that from me. If you gentle readers would like to research it, find out the percentage of persons entering the service that qualifies to pin on the dolphins of a qualified submariner. Pretty slim company, for sure. If you are in the research mode and want to expand your horizons a bit, find out how many in the electrical industry might qualify for a Senior reactor License and work in supervision in a 1000 megawatt nuclear facility.

No brags there Rummy and anyone else who might fit the same mold, just fact. You can bet your bottom dollar that I am proud and there isn't one piece of trash on this OPP that can alter that or my ability to brag. Simple bit of advice, if you don't like what I (or anyone else writes), do yourself a favor. Don't read it.
When I see certain User Names, I just rapidly scroll down and simply figure these people aren't going to write a thing of interest. Just more grinding and whining usually about stuff about which they know nothing.

Point well taken and I stand corrected. My service was not about ribbons, just as yours wasn't. Neither one of us could take one of ribbons to Starbucks and get a cup of coffee. Don't mean s**t. It is and was believing Faith, Family and Freedom. Oh, how I wish I was eighteen. I would do it again.

It is impossible to disagree that life begins at conception. Moronic not to. But where, other than basic logic and science, does that idea come from? From God? Zero evidence of that in the Bible, despite what many Christians will quote. The only chapter and verse directly on the subject makes the fetus less than a person. Exodus21:22-25. The rule then was an eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth. Yet the man who caused the a******n gets off with a monetary punishment. Yes, it was accidental, but other such accidental k*****gs in the OT are treated as murder. For those that breathe, which Genesis says is the criterion of life. We need to drop all religious arguments for the overpoweringly obvious: life begins at conception. End of story.

A******n is a horror on many levels, both subtle and blunt. It corrodes our belief in the sanctity of life, making for a slippery slope toward a lessening of our humanity. It numbs us to what suffering and death really is. We lose a sensibility to what is decent and good, and our responsibility to act that way. And much more. There is no plus side. Humankind gains nothing in this equation. We are all left bereft in mind and heart of something intrinsic and lasting in society: to care for the least of these. Who knows where that may lead?

What to do? Duh! Stop a******n, This is a nation of laws and no one has the right to end the life of another. Your body, your right to decide a being's fate? Hardly! This is not the time to quibble. A******n is not just ending the existence of a child, it is slowly k*****g our capacity to care for those who need our love and protection the most.

Say what you care to say. But ask yourself for your own introspection: why do you almost always, not just by moniker, post your years of service. Mine are bleak and unbecoming: drafted for two years, 12/66 to 12/68. Maybe I would to if a more illustrious career.
