How will you know about God or Allah or Buddah if you don't check them out?

Checking things out is exactly what I use OPP for. Ideas, opinions, etc are expressed and ignite my curiosity.

This post seemed to imply that God, Allah, and Buddah were of similar standing. ie some sort of supreme being. I think I get the idea of God being so. Not so sure of Allah yet. But thought that Buddah was a human, perhaps of the stature of Jesus.

So, research. The following was very interesting to me. The basic takeaway I got is that becoming a Buddah is a state of enlightenment that anyone can achieve. After a person achieves this state they are called Buddah. However, the God associated with the region of Buddism is Brahma. The following article is long but informative. I have no idea how definitive.

https://www.britannica.com/biography/Buddha-founder-of-Buddhism

We might add to the list: Earth Mother of native American culture, Zeus of ancient Greece, Itzamn of Mayan culture, Huitzilopochtli of the Aztecs, Hinduism, Latter Day Saints, Jehovah Witnesses, etc. Are they all valid? For sure, their believers do not think so, or we would not have had many of the wars we have had, are having, and undoubtedly will have.

Now on to Allah.

Ok, Allah is just another word for God. It is no more supreme a word than any other word for God. It is equivalent to the French Deus, Spanish Dios, etc.

That being said, of course, there are major differences in the origins, beliefs, and practices of these religions. The conflict between Christians and Muslims is a great concern of mine. My opinion is that the Muslim faith is a cult. It was developed by one person who used many methods to convince others to join up. The methods were and continue to be a danger to people worldwide.

My God gives you free will to accept or reject Him is all I can say now, so good luck with with your decision.

Exactly! FYI I have engaged in this discussion from a philosophical point of view with a few personal anecdotes to keep it real (for me at least). My personal decision was made many many years ago.

Right now the point I'm trying to make is that some religions DO NOT give people the freedom to choose.

There is book by Eric Fromm, The Art of Loving. The guys on the CG cutter thought it was porn. Similar to the one panel cartoon by Gary Larson... The lionesses of the Serengeti retched with disgust when they discovered that they had taken down a Tofudibeast. My shipmates did quite the double take when they borrowed the book. I digress but one point of the book was the freedom of choice to be a loving individual or ??? the opposite, ie h**eful.

Many religions tout Love but in fact are vicious k**lers of the Non-Believer. If you are not a True Believer, you are a threat and thus, worthless, and can be k**led with impunity. "Civilization" is infested with that concept. (??perhaps that is the true nature of man?? I surely hope not) The only thing that changes is WHO are in the elite True Believers. The ones who get to decide who lives and who dies. (re: The True Believer: Thoughts on the Nature of Mass Movements was written by Eric Hoffer (1902-1983); and many newer writings, movies, etc)

Current event examples abound. Just a few of my pets... G****l W*****g/C*****e C****e: Which elites get to decide who will suffer (eventually die) because they wish to control everything we have and do. Myamar: ethnic cleansing of all who threaten the Burmese government. The Green New Deal: not worth elaborating on. OH! I almost forgot!! INFANTICIDE!!!

I guess I'm waxing philosophical today. Closing quotes... My oldest brother: "Don't worry about Nothing. Nothing will be alright." Gary Larsen again. One vulture turns to other sitting on a branch in the stark desert, Patience my ass, I'm gonna k**l something.

There is no easy religion. The one that I chose orders me to LOVE my enemies, and that is hard thing FOR ME, while I have a cousin my age that was a womanizer, when we were drinking, would pick a fight with anyone that made eye contect with him. His wife instead of leaving him kept praying for him. To make his story short he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior, he became a minister and his testimony has help many teens that like to be in gangs. You are right there is a religion that doesn't give you the freedom to choose. It is a religion that threatens Christians, that religion IS ORDERED by their leader TO K**L INFADELS. And they are now here in America slowly but surely getting bigger and stronger. They are in Congress and city governments. I belive that you know which one I'm talking about.
