He didn’t need help being a lame duck president, he did quite well on his. Why should the Republicans help him clean up the mess he created in his first term? I do believe he said in his arrogant manner “I have a phone and a pen”. But apparently that was okay because he was the first halfrican President.

I disagree, it is for the very reason of not placing enough value on the content of the man, that we are in the predicament that we are in. When we look to someone running for the POTUS, let's go by his/her record of accomplishments and their causes and really listen to their intentions for the country. I really would love to take parties off the table. Let them stand on their merit. When honesty and trustworthiness have become outdated and moot, we're really in trouble then.

Every single political party out of the White House has made that promise to itself, from the time of President John Adams. As far as your second point. The Republicans were pledged to stop Obama from making things worse. Look back. The worst of the Obama economy was during the Democratic Congress as they gave Obama everything he wanted. Even the worst of Bush's economy was when Democrats had the most power in Congress. The best of Obama's economy was when Republicans obstructed him from doing more harm.

Getting back to point one. The Democrats went the Republicans one better. Republicans at least were allowing Obama to finish one term. The Democrats have tried to stop Trump from even doing that with this Trumped up Mueller nonsense.

I well remember the massive almost universal, widespread nuclear freeze movement at the height of the Cold War. It seemed as if every major city had huge demonstrations demanding that Reagan the cowboy come to his senses and agree to freeze nuclear profiliation. Nuclear winter was predicted for the whole world. Reagan, the leader, knew that the US, a force for good in the world, shouldn’t settle for MAD or Mutually Assured Destruction with an evil empire as he called c*******t Russia. He knew we deserved more.
Not only did he not agree to freeze nuclear arms, he doubled down! Remember Star Wars? He would take the battle to outer space. And with that stroke of genius, he won the Cold War. Without firing a shot! I appreciate your virtue signaling how worthy you are in bolstering up the “humanitarian” Jimmy Carter but he’s rated as the very worst president ever, challenged only by your other hero Obama for that title. Both left the economy in shambles, in the toilet.
