It just occurred to me that I neglected to add when you cook these noodles to do so on low heat, not simmer just pretty low. I would h**e it if my forgetfulness messed up your first homemade noodle meal. Hope you like them as much as we all do.

Actually, I cut up the chicken and then wrap it in cheesecloth. It's much neater that way and easier to de-bone. I believer Tom said to add the noodles after the soup is done.
I also have a large crock pot that works quite well for stuff like that. Makes a mean pot of ham and beans.

When I see nice looking ham hocks I grab a few, and a bag or two of black eyed peas, soak those black eyed beauties overnight. I like the ham hocks cooked longer than the peas, those have to be cooked just right, so I cook the ham until it's falling off the bone, then the peas go in after de boning the hocks...

...and cornbread of course, I'll make three batches of cornbread having fresh cornbread because I'll be eating that for a few nights, and lunches.

I've had home made noodles with the nuclear weight of Uranium.
Some folks don't know their moms are bad cooks till they go to jail. They see "Home Cooking" and they run.
Going down to minus 11 or so tonight.
Beef soup with elbow macaroni and some tight meatballs.

My grandma made the best eggiest tasting egg noodles with just the right tooth feel I've ever had, I'll have to see if I can get there

Is that what black eyed peas are used for?

Now you're talkin. That's how to make beans or kale edible. Ham Hox and Pig Feet. Cooked for hours till the meat and gelatinous skins fall off the bones. I reduce the meat and liquid to a dense glace, then take away some Hox and gel and set it aside for me. Then I add beans or kale or both to the cooked boneless ham Hox and Feet. Corn bread too, buttermilk corn bread.
Ain't nuthin better.

You forgot a glass of buttermilk. Ya gotta have something to crumble up your cornbread into.
