Hi Bob... Forgive me for saying it, but you seem in a mood this past day... Lots of negativity in your posts... I prefer the you give to encourage people who display critical thinking (not the ones you give to those who simply echo your side of the argument)...

I both love and h**e my country's healthcare...
I don't know if you Looked up it's history or not... But that's on you...

Here are two stories to illustrate my feelings...

1. My mother's best friend was diagnosee with a lump on her lung... Was into a specialist in two days and received surgery within a week Ir so... Full treatment afterwards... Saved her life.. God bless...

2. My grandmother (95) suffered a heart attack and was taken ti the emergency ward of our Local hospital... After waiting almost 10 hours she was informed that she needed to return home as the doctor was now off duty (without having been to see her) and there was no other doctor scheduled until the morning...

The system works great when you live in a large city or if the line is short...
But many places are now suffering from a shortage of medical professionals and equipment...

Who ever posted that their relative didn't pay a dollar for the treatment was incorrect.. We pay every month... That's how it is funded... It varies (as does treatment) from province to province.... And if your procedure is not covered/fullyCovere, or deemed unnecessary, then costs can be quite high (although still lower than in the US)... Many people are actually forced to wait until their condition becomes serious enough to warrant attention..

I know many people who cross the border for procedures that are not covered by our healthcare or that would require long waits...

I have also had several family members fly over to China to undergo procedures that were not deemed 'urgent'...My mother and aunt are considering a trip this summer...

One of the things that few people discuss is how unfair the system is concerning immigrants... Many (some who are hard working and contribute, some not so much) bring their elderly family members over.. These are people who will never contribute to our system but who will enjoy the benefits of it... That may seem callous on my part, but personally it disgusts me that people can game the system that way... I love all hardworking legal immigrants, (not fond of punjabis) but am not impressed with freeloaders...

As our system becomes more top heavy with an aging population, and fewer young people have decent paying jobs, our health care begins to show cracks... I rank it above America's in affordability... But we fall short of America in quality...

Perhaps the old adage is true 'you get what you pay for'

Thanks for thinking of me Bad Bob... And Hope you are having a blessed day..

My daughter-in-law is from Canada. She was diagnosed with cancer about ten years ago, before she and my son got married. It took that horrible Canadian healthcare system almost 24 hours to get her in to see a cancer specialist. It took them almost a week to start treatments. I don't recall all the treatments but meds were involved and she lost all her hair due to radiation treatments. After about an entire year, she was done with the treatments. Since five years without a recurrence is considered a cure, she is apparenetly cured, for it has been ten years. But the system is realy crazy. They didn't charge her a cent.

Most people lose their hair with radiation treatment, are you blaming them for that? It took them 24 hours, that's incredibly fast, to start treatment within a week is also incredibly fast, after a year she was cured and it didn't cost her a cent! that is freaking fantastic and unbelievable! And you call them a horrible system? WOW...WOOOW, She is very fortunate to be a Canadian. The US has a different story, actually many different stories, but none as good as yours that I know of.

Sorry, but that wasn't being sarcastic. The woman was very fortunate medically and financially. Many people from the UK are grateful to have their system and to be able to sleep at night not having to fear getting sick or old age.

What you share here is as I thought about Canadian insurance.. I have often heard those in need of care now come to visit their US family and get in for wh**ever..Also while Canadian insurance may help with some services while in the US it isn’t as Universal as one may think...

Terrible that anyone has to wait until the condition worsens to get care..
Their problem of lacking Physicians is what we now experience.. Specialty care seriously limited..

My Uncle who has been a Dr. in Ma for some 35 years is retiring as he literally can not afford malpractice coverage and the paperwork is three times what it used to be just to get payment even with preapproved authorization..
Had to increase his staff just to cover it even having stream lined procedures etc..

He’s lucky he can afford to do it and often comments on the near impossible situation for new Drs coming out who may have dreams of a private practice as he is.. Likewise he vents his frustration in now being limited in certain disgnostic tools to assist in patient care.. A major concern to any Dr who is repeatedly denied the request for procedures necessary.. If you fight with the Insurance company it may get approved a month or two later... And it may be too late by then... He’s not willing to gamble anymore..

He says if a person walks into the emergency room they are guaranteed all the diagnostic studies needed and immediately.. Its almost better for the patient and preventive care is a joke anymore.. Wellness care is the very basics but better than nothing..

I have a friend from China who was working in Canada as a physician... He said he couldn't believe how much (useless/pointless) paperwork was involved... He is over here again and loves his job... Makes decent money and spends most of his time actually working...

There are benefits to the Canadian system.. But drawbacks as well...
Must have been thought up by 'humans'...

I was Refering to the other poster's usage of the word 'horrible'...

My friends fron the UK think their system is a joke... Claim they prefer to go to the continent for health care...
I admittedly know very little about it...

Yes... One is fortunate to be a Canadian

You spoke of living in populated area’s and it being better than rural area’s.. I assume people can travel there for help which helps boggle the time with more patients??

Are you referring to the upside down snowman or the little one my neighbor made?? We were out snow blowing the drive way and sidewalks.. We kept teasing him about making one too....So, he did....lololol..

Then I'm not sure why you would post for me to google sarcasm, but we'll let that go.

It's easy for people to be critical of a system they've never had to seriously use, and ironically that happens here and there.

Both... they are great... Liked the upside-down one the best...

People usually can't travel without a recommendation from their family doctor... As many people lack family doctors now this has become even more of a problem..

Great opportunity here~~ How about coverage in China?? From the little I know it is sparce if any at all??

It used to be free but no longer right??

With the number in population how do you ever get in for medical needs??? I bet your friend is busyyyyy..

What surprises me about China is their life expectancy and how strong it is..Likewise must create that adage of people living longer getting benefits and less young to offset it??

Kyle what is Chinese medical care in relationship to standard protocal in methods of treatment?? I believe in a more natural form of care not dependant on a lot of medicine that has side effects worse than the illness.. Chinas’ approach to illness seems on the whole to work in connection to a more holistic approach... Is ths assumption on my part accurate??

Thought up by dang himans is right....😂

Homo sapiens is the only extant human species, latin for "wise man" how did that ever happen??? Lolol

And aren’t we lucky to now be called “ the modern human”👁👁What??

How long have “ we” been around, some 200, 000 years and along with other human species, how fascinating it truly is..Extinction a normal course of evolution I understand but why have “ we” survived..Intelligence?? I think not...

Certainly not because of insurance, left to that we are working towards further extinction...🤫🤷🏻‍♀️

Unfortunate!!! Primary Care physicians typically tied to the insurance company that basically “ employs them..” HMO policies vs PPO which affords broader coverage allowing you to treat with whomever not needing that referral.. If you stay within the Dr’s on their plan..

The natural attrition and eminent death always a concern..Death panels??? Denied but I am not convinced it doesn’t exist..How many countries are over populated now?? What better way to help elimination ???

We just passed right to die statutes where if two doctors confirm the diagnosis of an illness eith resulting death they allow assisted physican care to end that life rather than suffer until they die... Humane death with dignity..
Colorado becomes the sixth state to have a so-called “right-to-die law,” joining Washington, Oregon, California, Vermont, and Montana..

Its a very private blessing to me..My heart mourns for their passing while I also rejoice in knowing it is a humane decision of the patient, the only one that can make that decision..

The upside down one you may Thank my son, he’s always ready to do something a little different....My joy comes from him no doubt..Much like his father whom passed suddenly at the rip old age of .46 a few years ago..

Anyway, My son comes over often to help me with wh**ever.. Food too!! Lolol

My son and his girlfriend of 3 years now..Inseparable they are....❤️
