humming birds are my second favorite bird, next to the bald eagle ;)

I'd have to agree with you, but I see hundreds, or more, of hummingbirds every year. Rarely do I see a bald eagle... usually near the shores of our lake. They are majestic birds...the bald eagles. Hummingbirds are just damn entertaining and fascinating!

Time to breakout the sugar water feeders folks.
They are early this year and aren't here usually till the Lilacs are in bloom. Maybe that means the warm weather is finally here for good. Yaaaa!

Rather than I nurturing the hummingbirds, on two important occasions in my life, a hummingbird comforted me.

My mother always loved hummingbirds. She had honeysuckle vines growing along the fence lines on three sides of her country home in order to watch the hummingbirds as they fed.

While standing in Mom's kitchen in front of a large bay window, the morning of her funeral, as friends were bringing in casserole dishes and desserts, I saw a hummingbird fly up to the window in front of me, tap the glass, hover for a few seconds and fly away.

I felt God sent the hummingbird to reassure me that my Mother was with Him.

Years later, after my daughter's wedding in an antique stone chapel, I walked across to a partially enclosed patio where a champagne fountain and refreshments were set up for guests.

I thought how much my Mother would have loved to see her granddaughter, who was named for her, on her wedding day.

Then a ruby-throated hummingbird flew into the patio area, circled the guests, hovered for a second, and flew away.

A coincidence, I'm sure, but it gave me the quiet assurance that all was well with those I loved.

Twice, God sent a hummingbird.

Yes I am up north in Pa. We have a lot of Mountain Laurel here also which is so sweet it has sort of a sickening smell to me.

It will depend on your dogs. If they are the kind that bark at everything, you can pretty much forget it, but if they are quite, then it won't take as long as you think.

You must live up north if they are just getting there. They have been here for awhile now in Southern Georgia. I love them and always leave food out for them. They do get dependent on you though of there are not a lot of flowers around.

They are neat to watch. Talk about Territorial Rights in action.

we have several pairs of ospreys here in Imperial Beach and I enjoy watching them especially trying to catch a rabbit, saw one catch a large bass one day and it took a long time flying parallel to the beach to get high enough to fly inland

Awesome God is great isn't he? He knows what we need and He fills it to overflowing.
