The Catholics using Matt 16:18 is like the Mormons trying to justify Jesus going to the Americas with John 10:16 - "And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd."

Dumb answer. Your Sola Scriptura is man-made, incomplete, lacks the 1500 years of history, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, NOT AUTHORIZED BY Christ to preach, to teach, to copy, to keep, to proclaim any part of it to the people.

Saint Paul is just a Saint. He must above all follow Christ. The highest and sole authority is Christ. Anything spoken by Paul without first looking at proper authoritative power of God, is not enforceable. Christ's command must be obeyed first. Don't by-pass that.

By golly, you finally got it!! “The highest and sole authority is Christ.” That is exactly what we have been ‘preaching’ for months! That is taught in our Sola Scriptura Bible.......and YOURS!

John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

1 Corinthians 14:37-38 If anyone thinks that he is a profit , or spiritual, he should acknowledge that the things I am writing to you are a command of the Lord. If anyone does not recognize this, he is not recognized.

All scripture is God-breathed! 2 Timothy 3:16

God breathe? Your 500 year old stolen Sola Scriptura is not legally allowed to preach the Gospel of Christ.

Christ did not authorize that to Sola Scriptura. It is an impostor, pretending to be the Scriptures of Christ. Your Scriptura has been denied of authority to preach and to teach.

You have to follow God's authority, instead of fighting back. Surrender because God has given that inheritance to His Catholic Church, 1987 years ago. Matthew 16:18.
Don't steal it .

Sola scriptura preaches? What is next? Scriptura means scripture so you're saying scripture can't preach or teach.

In the next sentence you say we have to follow God's authority yet you just said scripture had no authority because it can't preach or teach.

Are you seriously questioning that all scripture is God-breathed? That scripture is the same in both Bibles!

I suppose you think that you have the authority to teach scripture since you are a Catholic?

Your Church is built on one VERSE! A verse that a child in Elementary School could explain who the rock is by reading the previous scriptures! The Rock is Jesus, all 142 times in the Bible! Your Church is built by money and power FOR money and power!

Bottom line is Sola Scriptura has no authority from Christ to be used to preach, teach, and learn. It has no LICENSE TO PRACTICE!

Here is the short history how the Pope was created. It started from Saint Peter, the 1st Pope.
A snap History of the Catholic Church

Catholic Church was founded by our Lord Jesus Christ in the year 33.

Jesus appointed the apostle Peter as the first vicar or pope. Matthew 16:18-19 are the scriptural references Catholics give to support this. "And I say unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock, I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of the Kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shalt be loosed in heaven." (KJV)

Around the year A.D. 45, Peter went to Rome and assumed control of the church.

During the persecution of Christians by the emperor Nero, Peter was imprisoned and scourged. He gave his farewell blessing to all of his flock, and especially to Saint Paul, who was going to be beheaded the same day outside Rome.

He was then led to the top of Vatican Mount to be executed by crucifixion. Deeming himself to be unworthy to die in the same position as our Lord, he asked to be crucified upside down. He received his eternal reward on June 29 in the year 67. Two hundred sixty six popes have succeeded Peter since.

For the next 300 years, Rome would begin a serious persecution against the truth.

Christians began to meet behind closed doors and gradual changes were made. Elders of the church were known as bishops, and by the close of the third century; each congregation of any size had a bishop as its head, with a group of elders under him. No work was to be done on Sunday.

In 306, Constantine became sole emperor of Rome. His mother Helena became a Christian and urged Constantine to ease up on the persecution of Christians.
He decided that Christianity would now be the state religion.
Finding much division in the church, he decided to call a meeting to be held in Nicaea in May 325 A.D. to discuss and unite over the issues that divided the church. Three hundred eighteen bishops assembled and established the Nicene Creed.

Constantine built the Old Saint Peter's basilica in 313 to 332 AD.
