Windows 95 came out In 95. Same with 98. After that millennium (2000) and then XE then 7. After 7 comes 8 which incorporates many of the multiple feature that the youth of today desire. Microsoft deviated from the old way of the OP and did some things that are not intuitive with the previous versions. I, like everyone else, don't like to learn new things. Just like a woman, patience and desire will bring about a union.

"... patience and desire..." doesn't bring about a union... "... fortitude and commitment..." does... "... Just like a woman..."

Well, You got a laugh outa me. It takes courage and a lot of it coupled with determination to be with a woman. I love women. I just haven't had one in 27 years. I mean married. I been on a couple of dating sites but the only conservative women I met were hundreds of miles away. If you know me. I couldn't be married to a democrat. There would be blood in the streets.

There are a lot of people that already miss the reliability of Windows XP and the ease of operation. Most that had XP are finding it difficult operating Windows 8 and their dislike is being voiced about.

Maelstrom, I have Windows 8 in my desktop, but don't use a tablet because I have a 23" screen monitor, and don't want anything smaller.

Is it the Windows 8 operating system or the size of the tablet that's giving you a headache or both?

I think both, but I believe mostly the tablet as I have not been a "smart" phone user until lately. Things that should be so easy as on my old computer are more complicated. I guess I need to get "how to use a smart phone for dummies",lol

My brother in law just bought a new computer and he has Windows 8 on it and h**es it. He had Windows XT before. I have Vista on mine and it is so-so. I have heard that Windows 7 isn't as bad as Windows 8 and is still available. Do you have the touch screen version or what?

Yes if your speaking to me, I thought I should keep up with things and not fall to far behind. I was told it is geared for people who are use to the smart phones, they're more use to everything sliding and touching. The tablet does so much on the screen. I find it hard to get rid of some stuff at the same time it seems to close up instead of just going back. Just need to know if others were having a hard time too.

About 15 yrs ago I retired for a couple of yrs but, ran outa money before I ran outa time so had to hit the road again. I didn't know much about computers so I went to the local community college and get a certificate in computer science. There is a lot I don't know but, I am glad I did it.

I did that, took a computer class, than too a certified class for Microsoft, wound up helping the teacher in the class. I was good, than my computer crashed, slid off chair and hit corner. Found out that's the worst possibility. So here I am, being stubborn and trying to figure it out. Trying to become one with my computer/tablet

A smart phone, huh? I have a Samsung "bluetooth" - wh**ever - cell phone (to me they're all cell phones) with an unused web browser on the menu, but use it only for making calls or taking pictures. I don't know how smart it is...

I've never sent a text message in my life and no desire to do so. It seems mildly regressive to get all that excited about typing into a teeny little screen, when you can rather effortlessly push a speed dial button and simply talk.

...and the very idea of attempting to "text" a message while driving is beyond ignorant, it's suicidal. I see state sponsored TV ads informing people it's dangerous to text and drive, presumably to the young who have never been taught that. Never been taught that?

Wh**ever happened to common sense?

I have two Windows XP, Professional version computers still set up in two bedrooms, one is connected to the internet, but have been using this Windows 8 since last October.

The first few days those multicolored, different sized blocks cluttering the screen would go swooping from side to side whenever I tried to do anything with them, but I got into the Administrative controls and BIOS settings, and now have it pretty well subdued. :x

My daughter uses an I-Phone, sends pictures of my grandchildren two or three times a week from the New York City area, sent a picture from a Yankee game last week, and she texts messages constantly when she's around.

I wish you luck with it.
