Tell me about it, because I want to fling it out the window...Argh
Maelstrom, I have Windows 8 in my desktop, but don't use a tablet because I have a 23" screen monitor, and don't want anything smaller.
Is it the Windows 8 operating system or the size of the tablet that's giving you a headache or both?

My brother in law just bought a new computer and he has Windows 8 on it and h**es it. He had Windows XT before. I have Vista on mine and it is so-so. I have heard that Windows 7 isn't as bad as Windows 8 and is still available. Do you have the touch screen version or what?

I got a test version from Microsoft. At first I h**ed it and I told them so. But now that I have become to know the system I love it. It is so easy to use and has many features that I will never use; but the young people will use them and as an ole fogie I an going to be hip as long as I live.

I don't agree. 8 broke with the old Microsoft way. Learn it and you will like it. Hang in there. Meal, your reaction was just like mine at 1st.

I will stay with my Vista until it crashes or becomes to slow to do anything on. My problem when I look at computers is I look at them like when I was in business and running various CAD programs on it and I needed the memory and high speed. Now that I am retired I don't need all that but still find myself looking at it.

In 2000 I bought a new desk top with an Intel Quad processor, 4 megs memory. It is blazing fast. Like my diesel truck both will out last me.

As it is very well known I am abysmal at technology and to provide amusement, my answer to Windows 8 is, " I did not know Windows 1 through 7, so 8 is great."

About 15 yrs ago I retired for a couple of yrs but, ran outa money before I ran outa time so had to hit the road again. I didn't know much about computers so I went to the local community college and get a certificate in computer science. There is a lot I don't know but, I am glad I did it.

I do, but with the 8.1 update, I was able to rearrange my desktop to approximate the classic Windows set-up, - in so far as possible.
It's fine now. They've initially made it more difficult to access and audit and change the registry and the administrative services, but I worked around their new arrangement to disable features I don't want in service, or change some from automatic to manual, especially anything enabling sharing of files, or automatic reports back to Microsoft.
The features they don't want messed with, I always do.
windows 7 is a lot better to be honest, better interface and user friendliness, but sadly 8 is the only option for tablets, you could use it as a windows 7 computer by clicking the traditional desktop icon at the start and ignore all the unnecessary options like I do, it works a lot better, but it can get tricky if you open a picture or something along those lines.
