Snip>>>Federal Highway Administrator Helps Open LBJ Express Project
Urges Congress to provide long-term investment, end patchwork t***sportation legislation

DALLAS – Federal Highway Administrator Gregory Nadeau, with state and local officials, helped open Dallas’ LBJ Express project today, which rebuilt one of the busiest highways in north Texas. The $2.6 billion project, which relied on nearly $1.2 billion in federal assistance, is expected to improve mobility by nearly doubling existing roadway capacity. The project used the design-build delivery method, an innovation supported by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) under its “Every Day Counts” partnership which fosters the use of underutilized innovations to shorten the project delivery process, enhance roadway safety, reduce congestion and improve environmental sustainability.

“Innovative financing can help replace and repair our country’s crumbling infrastructure, but we also need long term infrastructure funding to get more projects like this one off the starting blocks,” said U.S. T***sportation Secretary Anthony Foxx. “Congress is back from summer recess and now we need them to get to work on long-term t***sportation funding that will help build more projects like this one, providing good jobs and fueling the nation’s economy.”

Earlier this year, the Obama Administration proposed the GROW AMERICA Act to address the nation’s infrastructure deficit with a $478 billion, six-year surface t***sportation reauthorization proposal. The Act would provide critical investments to fix our decaying roads and crumbling bridges and ensure the safety of our t***sportation systems. Sixty-five percent of America’s major roads are rated in less than good condition, while one in four bridges require significant repair or cannot handle today’s traffic and 45 percent of Americans do not have access to t***sit. Such programs will help communities keep pace with our expanding economy, our growing population and the traveling needs of the public.

GROW AMERICA provides funding for enhanced credit programs by providing $6 billion over six years for the T***sportation Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (TIFIA) program, an investment that could support $60 billion in loans.

“Managing growth means managing mobility,” said Administrator Nadeau. “LBJ Express is leading the way with new and improved lanes and roads that will give travelers options in getting to and from Dallas safely.”

The LBJ Express project, which used funds from an $850 million TIFIA loan, spans 16 miles and includes the finance, construction, operation and maintenance of a corridor of frontage roads, general purpose lanes and tolled managed lanes from Greenville Avenue to Luna Road on I-635 and 13 miles of tolled managed lanes from Northwest Highway to Valwood Parkway on I-35. The managed lanes will use variable tolling to keep traffic moving at a goal of 50 mph.

Conservatives continue to express how such projects were abject failures even though they provided jobs and have been vital in upgrading our infrastructure--work that likely would still be floundering if conservative hands were part of it...

Talk about keeping promises. ACA,aka Obamacare was supposed to lower health care costs. Instead, health care costs doubled after the ACA was pushed through. When O was President, the rih got richer, the poor got poorer. Since Trumps been President, Americans, rich and poor are doing better. Less people unemployed and incomes raising.Obama supplied Islamic terrorist groups in Libia, inluding ISIS and Al mQuada with weapons, since Trump's been President, ISIS has been knocked down.

The right wingers love to claim trump is keeping his promises.. I would love to know what those promises are, I find none that an American should like..

but even I, a totally objective viewer of the orange fog bank, can find a number that he has not and seems to have no intention of keeping..

Now if they are not still overwhelmed by the DNA test that trump refuses to pay up on as he promised many times.

let us all have a quick look at a letter from my congressman Nolan..

Like so many other Americans, those of us who serve on the House T***sportation and Infrastructure committee are wondering – wh**ever happened to the President’s promise of a $1 trillion infrastructure bill? The answer, 21 months after the President took office, is “nothing.” The President and GOP leaders have earned an “F” for their failure to deliver.

A healthy infrastructure is the foundation of jobs and economic growth, and states rely on the federal government for the lion’s share of funds to fix deteriorating highways, roads, bridges, airports, rail lines, t***sit systems and water treatment facilities.

If you commute from the 8th District down I-35 to the Twin Cities, congestion will cost you about 41 extra hours in rush-hour traffic every year, along with an additional $1,332 in gasoline and wear and tear on your vehicle. Shipping delays due to highway and rail tie-ups cost Minnesota businesses millions of dollars every year.

Because situations like these are so common throughout the nation, the Civil Engineers recommend an investment of at least $3.5 trillion to bring our infrastructure up to 21st Century standards that match what China and the European Union are doing.

To put that $3.5 trillion figure into perspective, we have already spent more than $6 trillion on wars of choice in Iraq and Afghanistan. With interest and the continuing cost of our involvement and care of our wounded military Veterans, that figure is estimated to reach nearly $16 trillion over the next 20 years.

As I have said so many times before, it’s time to put a stop to these endless wars of choice and start reinvesting in America – in infrastructure, human development, medical research, education, addressing c*****e c****e, and so many other urgent national priorities to help ensure a better life for future generations.

We will keep you posted as events proceed. Meanwhile, I want to hear your thoughts. Feel free to contact any of our offices listed below or send me an email.

Sincerely,

Can you spell or understand the word "HYPOCRITE"?

So list the promises he kept? And what do you mean--promises he WILL keep. How can anyone objectively tell what promises a lunatic will keep?

Hemi, Not to worry, they DON'T WANT him to keep his promises. His promises are against the left wing agenda.

The economy is good - Makes Obama look like the dumb turd he is.
Unemployment is down - The left wants people on welfare and food stamps (then they can b***h about Trump not fixing unemployment).
Immigration - the left wants as many i*****l i*******ts as possible for more v**es.
Negotiation with N. Korea - See #1.
Business coming back to America - See #1 (Apparently, Trump DOES have a "magic wand" and see #1.

The Democrats can't stand to see a Republican succeed in anything because it shows flaws in the excuses they use for things staying depressed.
