Like so many other Americans, those of us who serve on the House T***sportation and Infrastructure committee are wondering – wh**ever happened to the President’s promise of a $1 trillion infrastructure bill? The answer, 21 months after the President took office, is “nothing.” The President and GOP leaders have earned an “F” for their failure to deliver.

A healthy infrastructure is the foundation of jobs and economic growth, and states rely on the federal government for the lion’s share of funds to fix deteriorating highways, roads, bridges, airports, rail lines, t***sit systems and water treatment facilities.

If you commute from the 8th District down I-35 to the Twin Cities, congestion will cost you about 41 extra hours in rush-hour traffic every year, along with an additional $1,332 in gasoline and wear and tear on your vehicle. Shipping delays due to highway and rail tie-ups cost Minnesota businesses millions of dollars every year.

Because situations like these are so common throughout the nation, the Civil Engineers recommend an investment of at least $3.5 trillion to bring our infrastructure up to 21st Century standards that match what China and the European Union are doing.

To put that $3.5 trillion figure into perspective, we have already spent more than $6 trillion on wars of choice in Iraq and Afghanistan. With interest and the continuing cost of our involvement and care of our wounded military Veterans, that figure is estimated to reach nearly $16 trillion over the next 20 years.

As I have said so many times before, it’s time to put a stop to these endless wars of choice and start reinvesting in America – in infrastructure, human development, medical research, education, addressing c*****e c****e, and so many other urgent national priorities to help ensure a better life for future generations.

We will keep you posted as events proceed. Meanwhile, I want to hear your thoughts. Feel free to contact any of our offices listed below or send me an email.

Sincerely,

Are you kidding..."a totally objective viewer"....??!! Can you find a number of promises he HAS kept???? Can you find a number of promises he intends to keep?? That's what an "objective viewer" would do...list BOTH.

Can you spell or understand the word "HYPOCRITE"?

But they can always find imaginary promises that he kept even if such things as destroying the EPA fuked the country as a whole.

The taxes the states collect on gasoline, oil, tires, tags and special overload permits is supose to pay for infrastructures. All these taxes WERE NOT SPENT ON WHAT THEY WERE COLLECTED FOR BUT FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

I recall the tobacco law suits that Mississipi won in the tune of $500 million dollars that was to be used ONLY for tobacco induced medical cost.

In three years the money was spent on everything but tobacco induced medical. The Attorney General and his lawyer friends changed the intent and the money was gone.

The Attorney General retired at age 30 as a multiple millionaire Democrat.

Very amusing Mike... well played..

However, Peter has already made all replys that are real and that address the "promise" BS.

A promise that gives gifts to a small part of society does not in anyway enhance the president.

As peter said, the president is supposed to do the best for the whole country, not favor a group, which includes himself at the expense of all the rest..

Bear,,

Indeed your are correct, so in the full performance of my glowing perfection of Objectivity, I will look at some other promises of the orange lair..

Promise to give huge gift of tax cuts to himself and the rich... yep, he did that..

promise to let corporations bring overseas cash to the US nearly tax free...yep, he did that..

Promise to repeal and replace the ACA with a better programs... OOPs did not do that..

Promise to reduce, even remove the Natl Debt..OOPs did not do that...

Promise to lower drug prices... oops, did not do that, but he did drive their stock prices up for the business..

Promise to remove every thing President Obama did to better our environment and strengthen the EPA... working on this, he has done a huge amount of harm, but not yet k**led us..

Promise to build a wall for 20 billion $$.... good for us, he did not do that..

Now if you dig and twist and use google or duck duck goose.. wh**ever.. you can find a couple dozen other Promises which you can claim he is "working on" so have not yet been dropped..

So grab your hypocritical butt and see what you find.. i am sure he has done a great deal which you love..

But those of us who love our country are very concerned..

Glad I do not live in Mississippi...

States write those gas related laws differently... In Minnesota the law is worded to cover "t***sportation needs" or something like that.

So some of those monies have been used on a lot of other projects beside repaving and repair.. some I do not like, most of them I do..

From Bike paths, rest stops and bridges... but it has been done with input and debate before it was done.

So I do not have a fault with the spending..

we will need more revenue, so the gas tax is hassled over in nearly every session of the legislature..

this too, gets some gas tax funding..
this too, gets some gas tax funding.....

what is with this "Goober" stuff??

i thought Goober was another name for peanut.. or maybe a kind of peanut..

You express it as an insult.. what is the insult? it is a connection to what? In what way?

We glacial bound citizens wish to know...

LOL! I don't need to find anything else out.

He HAS done many things which I love (and some things which I don't). If you're trying to prove your "perfection of objectivity" with your last post....you have failed miserably! So you don't like some of the promises he's kept, BOO HOO, at least he kept them.

I'm not the one that put forth a one-sided argument and called myself "objective"...you did!

If you truly "loved your country", you would at least mention one of the things he did for the good of this country. You didn't. Or do you think NOTHING he has done was for the good of the country?? If you think that, then you ARE a hypocrite and disingenuous about being "objective".

"Grab your hypocritical butt" is a particularly clever phrase to say "I know I am, but what are you?" Typical childish way to argue a point.

At least I'm objective enough to admit that I think he has done some good things as well as some things I don't like or agree with.

Keep trying, though.

Actually, this is one promise I would have loved to see him keep because it is the only one that would actually benefit this country. You guys do understand that the job of president is to benefit the country not simply placate the wants and wishes of one ideology--else any promises aren't worth spit.

I saw this morning that Trump most likely has kept more campaign promises than any other president making him the most honest. Now don't shoot the messenger. You need to stop! Turn around. Go in the opposite direction, get on the Trump train and help MAGA!

you seem to have more than a few misconceptions..

Because I do not find any of his kept promises.. both of them... does not mean I am not objective..

T***h, if he ever does anything that is good for the nation, I will proclaim that I like it.. waiting...

Now, you say, without example that he has indeed done something for the country..

while I have well exhibited my wonderful objectivity and open mindedness.. you have done nothing to show you are anything but selfish and a supporter of an American h**er..

one who hobnobs with other world class criminals..
