This is fact or only your mere speculation? The Democrats didn't howl until the shock of the unthinkable occurred, Hillary lost the e******n. Until she lost Democrats thought she would pick her own associate justice. With her defeat, Garland's nomination became an issue. Besides, the Joe Biden rule should have applied but, of course, Joe meant for his rule to apply only to democrats.

Spot on

Well over 200,000 documents from Judge Kavanaughs past have been released, and he has over 300 recorded judicial opinions that are public record. The Obama administration provided 173,000 documents on Justice Kagan, and she had no recorded opinions at the time. And we're supposed to believe that not only have the democrats read all those documents and all those opinions, but that it doesn't give them a clear enough picture as to Judge Kavanaughs suitability for the court. They need more documentation. It's not at all about stalling the appointment until after the 2018 Mid-Terms. If you believe the democrats, I keep telling everyone I have a way to prevent cancer that involves gummy bears and duct tape. I know it works because I'm still cancer free!

I suppose you were equally disturbed when Republicans stalled v**es on President Obama's appointments?

It's a game for democrats and one that their not playing well. This nothing more than we're against anyone Trump nominates. I can see 75 v**es for!

Sounds like the Republicans' game with Obama's nominations.

Harry Reid started this fiasco. There was a difference even though I was never for the nuclear option and thought Garland should have been v**ed on. We've become so partisan in this country we shouldn't even have these T.V. hearings. These clowns should just v**e. They already have their minds made up anyway.

Every President nominates a person who is in line with his perspective and there was a battle for Obama's pick !

Now Trump has nominated a person who is in line with his perspective and there is a battle for Trumps pick !

I can't recall that the Republicans acted like the Democrats are acting with today's I listened to Senator Graham questioning and he was spot on that all civility has been lost !

Due in part with Hillary's loss that the left has gone so far and with their lies and violence it's plum d********g .

I didn't say they didn't. My comment was to compare the "new requirements" the democrats are throwing at the current appointee. I mean, I'm sure there are some hidden documents covering the time he coached his kids sports teams or during his work teaching or serving meals to the homeless through his Catholic charitable work. It may be that when Kagan was nominated, republicans tried to delay her appointment, but I like to think it was because she had a very limited judicial record to review. In Kavanaugh's case, it you can't figure out what this guy's record is, you don't belong on the judicial committee.

Reid was not operating in a vacuum. Without McConnell's determination to make Obama's Presidency fail, reducing the v**es needed for lower court appointments would not have been necessary.

I think, in the long run, eliminating the 60 v**es needed for cloture may be a good thing.

I don't like McConnell but that's an often told statement by McConnell and taken out of context.

I think the documents that the Democrats are particularly interested in come from when Kavanaugh worked for Bush 43 and the topics of torture, Patriot Act, etc. came up. Things that many Americans might be interested in.

And what context was that? The context of him saying something in secret that he wanted to keep secret?

This article brings up some reasons why hearings should be delayed:
https://www.brookings.edu/research/unresolved-recusal-issues-require-a-pause-in-the-kavanaugh-hearings/?utm_campaign=Governance%20Studies&utm_source=hs_email&utm_medium=email&utm_content=65694541

It starts out:
This paper explains why the Constitution as originally designed by the framers requires the Supreme Court nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit to be put on hold. It takes no view on his ultimate confirmation. But as one of the authors has elsewhere explained,[1] it offends the structure the framers created for a president who is facing mounting personal liability under our Constitution and laws to choose one of the judges in his own case.

I've been trying to stay updated on the proceedings. It seems like Judge Kavanaugh was not "read into" much of what Sen Leahy and others are asking about. Let's be honest acknowledgeurma, as we've seen since the inauguration, democrats have show their mastery of delay tactics and slow-walking in an effort to hamstring President Trump's agenda and appointments. I tip my hat because republicans could never be as adept, and certainly never as unified as the democrats in this endeavor. Saul A. taught you all well.
