A thread in the main section used the word, "to," in its title where, "too," should have been used. As in, "too many." For some reason one poster took umbrage with it and the whole thread unraveled from the original subject and went into a whole diatribe on English usage. I'm thinking most of us do know the difference but we get caught up in the moment or get a little, 'fat fingered,' and leave typos more often than intentional goofs.
With that said, I do see, "then," and, "than,' used interchangeably a LOT! "Your," and, "you're," along with, "there," "they're," and, "their." I don't see, "two," used where, "to," or, "too," belong but I think I may actually be the last living American who knows the difference between, "affect," and, "effect."
My real pet peeve though is repetitive redundancies. "HIV v***s," "PIN number," "ATM machine," to list a few. I grit my teeth heavily over, "point in time," too. My all time favorite though has to be, "hot water heater." If the water is already hot, why do you need to heat it?
Soap box folded and put away. Thanks for listening.

"Hot water heater" is my favorite too. Also, from sports, the redundancy of "RBIs." "Runs batted ins?"

You spend a great deal of your time clueless?
Any time an acronym is used, a clarifier should be used, by, either, a beginning definition or repeating a concept within the acronym, because Authentic T***sfer Mapping (ATM) is not, Automatic Teller Machine (ATM). But you like being clueless, huh?
I suppose you think there is no difference between a "point in space" and "a point in time."
A water heater has a temperature to itself which may or may not reflect the temperature of what is inside it. When someone says "the size of a hot water heater," they speak of the old-style water heaters, which tend to be hot.
But you probably think you're a genius, being pissed at the redundancies of others.

You just can't take a joke, can you. Most of us can understand a concept - without having it precisely spelled out.

You've demonstrated your abilities on that front many times. I guess spelling it out is an act of futility with you.
Nobody said anything about being "pissed" at anything. Some people simply recognize humor when they see it. Others just lash out in anger over something absolutely insignificant.
