The "courtesy" exists so that ex members of the government can sell their services in the commercial market and with a clearance they presumably have insider current information. All clearances should cease when the holder is no longer employed where such clearance is needed. No classified job, no need to know and definitely no clearance.

That is just smoke and mirrors by Brennan. It's not about freedom of speech in the least...the REAL reason he wants to have security clearances is because he can make megabucks from contractors once he leaves the government job and goes into the private sector. Having a security clearance is a requirement for high-paying jobs with private companies that consult with, or compete with contracts from, the federal government, like Lockheed Martin and Raytheon. People with security clearances also have the ability to leak classified and top-secret information to the press. James Comey leaked information to a friend, who gave it to the New York Times! Should he still have security clearance? I think not, but he still does. Peter Strzok was FIRED by the FBI - still has clearance. Many others, too. These people no longer work for the government, go into the private sector and then still have all this classified information at their fingertips to do wh**ever they want with! These "public servants" come away from their government jobs as multi-millionaires, some even billionaires because they still have their clearances.
