Someone needs to get butt in gear and show those numbers to the public.
The rationale for not including food and energy in the CPI is that their prices fluctuate too much. The CPI is intended to measure longer-term trends than that, and the effects of the fluctuating prices of food and energy get reflected in other sectors that are included. I don't know if I agree with that, but there it is.
