It happened to me a while ago and I have since moved on and forgotten the post. I'm only bringing it up now because I recently received private messages from others that are experiencing this issue. I am not in the habit of posting links to messages that people have sent me privately. I did however, illustrate the issue quite clearly in my original post. There's really no excuse for claiming not to understand.

I also provided an example in my response to Wolf boy where I intentionally misquoted him, since he claimed the issue is so "insignificant". And maybe for the trolls out there it IS insignificant, but some of us are here for more serious discussion and we would prefer not to be intentionally misquoted by cheap trolling.

I've been misquoted as well.

It never bother me enough to start a thread requesting other people send a link to their misquote, but if it did, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't mind providing a link to my complaint.

I'm not starting this thread because it happened to me. Like I said, it's been a while since it happened to me and I just moved along. I'm starting this thread because it's happening to other people so if there is a pattern developing I think it's appropriate that we at least identify the issue and impose some kind of standard of decency.

So, then you're admitting to being a liar and a troll. That might not be a big deal to you... in fact some lesser people actually think that kind of stuff is funny, especially if they think it's offensive. But as much as you want me to be "hurt" by your trolling, I'm not. I know your type... 'totally not worth the stress or the attention. Unlike you I have better things to do.

I'm wh**ever your precious little indoctrinated mind tells you I am.

But the fact remains that you could use a thorough cleansing.

It's recently come to my attention that people on this site are being intentionally misquoted. This happened to me a few times and there is nothing more insidious. In fact it's called libel and it's illegal. To be clear, I am not referring to misunderstandings or interpretations. I am referring to direct quotes, either framed in a quote box or quotation marks.

For example, if ted posts a statement...

I like Mexican food
.............................................................................

flamer can respond with...

That IS libel.
.............................................................................

To anyone who does this and thinks they are being clever let me explain why it isn't.

1. The original quote will still be available to verify so malicious intent CAN be proven.
2. Your anonymity does not protect the site owner from legal action resulting from your "clever" stunt. According to this site's policies, all the content on this site is owned by the proprietor of this site, which means the business that operates this site CAN be sued if libel can be proven. So your putting a business at risk.

All this being said, I am hereby creating this topic as an explanation and a fair warning. If anyone is victimized by this kind of BS, I encourage you to post the incident with links to this topic. These events have been reported to the admin but he is unsure how to deal with the issue. There certainly isn't any algorithms or filters to catch it. So it's up to the users to maintain the integrity of our exchanges.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What to do if you are victimized by intentional misquoting.

1. find your post and right-click on the "#" mark to the right of the date stamp. Then select "copy link address" to your clipboard.

2. Next, open a response to the offending post where you were misquoted. Then add a link using the tag and paste in the address that you copied to your clipboard. This provides a direct link to your original quote.

3. re-quote your original quote so the intentional misquoting is plain to see... The link is your way to proving to them that your version is the original.

4. post that response then right-click on that "#" mark again to copy the link address for your response to the clipboard.

5. post that link to this topic. So we can all see it.

Thank you.

All kidding aside, thanks for pointing this out, especially for those caught unaware. This type of malicious tactics reflects the Trump era of deceptions we are all now emerged in, the bigger problem being the folks who see nothing wrong with it and engage in it. Things like ethics, integrity and honor are rapidly not only falling to to the wayside but are literally being assisted with a swift kick off the edge.

At the end of the day, I think that "swift kick" will backfire as the ONE good thing that our lying, dishonorable president will do is inadvertently remind people how valuable things like honor and integrity really are. Sometimes it's not until something is taken away, that people come to appreciate it enough to protect it.

Maybe that is just the medicine that is needed. Is a swift kick backfiring anything like pissing in the wind...

Au contraire, these are Clintonista deceptive practices. Several decades of polecats occupying the White House have imbued the left with exactly this type of devious, dishonorable, means of argument; for example, the DNC chair just happening to come across some debate questions which were provided as guidelines to Hillary.
