You are absolutely right the GOP was once the grand old party of Lincoln, T Roosevelt, and Eisenhower, but not any more. It first began to look like the Jefferson Davis party in the 1970's and increasingly so until it recently has become the POT ( the party of Trump )

Obama care was a first step in reducing the cost of health care in the US and covering the 50 million Americans who had no health care insurance. The cost of the Nations health care in 18 % or GDP when no other OECD country spends more than 10 % while covering all of their citizens. The problem with Obama care it was created by lobbyist from the Health insurance business. And they made a deal. They put up 85 billion dollars toward closing the donut hole in Medicare if the government dropped the public option, and they did. The only solution to the hodgepoge is a single payer system--Medicare for all which would eliminate the mountain of paper work that doctors have to deal with that adds so much to the cost of health care

The way it was supposed to work is the fact that every body uses the health care system even young people as they grow old but young people dint health care much and they want to spend their money on consumer goods and then worry about health care when they get old. With Obama care the young was required to have a health care ins policy like people are required to have a drivers license and auto ins. so they and like Social Security and Medicare you pay while your young so the health care will be there when you age . The problem comes when conservatives don't or can't comprehend how its supposed to work and turn every bassakwards Typically it is very difficult for a society to progress when people stand in the middle of the road yelling STOP

We live in a community with few African Americans and my wife an I admire obummer and our spirits are lifted when he speaks or makes an appearance n out TV he is like a breath of fresh air he is so articulate and dignified not like a punk with a buffant hair doo

Linda Obama was elected in 2008 because millions of people wo don't bother to v**e because they believe the government cannot or won't do any thing to improve their lives responded to Obamas message of hope and change. But Obama was hampered by 200 Republican filibusters and was therefore limited in making change. When FDR was elected in 1932 he was handed a Democratic congress as the Republicans were thrown out of office and replaced with new deal democrats and they pushed through 15 major pieces of legislation in the first 100 days and brought about significant change but the republicans were a road block and Obama wasted his first year trying for consensus with them whish was a waste of time and he only had a democratic congress for 15 months and very few democrats in congress come close to the new deal democrats
