Yeah, what can I say that I haven't already said...tariffs cost jobs.

President Donald Trump's tariffs are hurting a Texas steel pipe manufacturer.
Borusan Mannesmann, which makes pipes for Texas' oil and gas refineries, estimates that the 25% tariff on imported steel will cost the company up to $35 million a year and k**l its plans to expand and hire more workers.

The company imports steel tubing and casing from its parent company in Turkey, and finishes the products at a factory in Baytown. It is seeking an exemption from the tariffs and is awaiting the administration's decision.

"It would really impact the community, which already has a 10% unemployment rate," CEO Joel Johnson told CNN's Poppy Harlow in an interview Wednesday. "We want to grow."

Tarrifs cost American jobs less than Corporate taxes cost American jobs.

Your situational outrage is noted.

I once received some woodworking rasps for free for ordering other tools. When I tried to use them on soft wood all of the teeth broke. They were made in China, but they were for free, right. I had a relative who was a b****smith and he said he would heat treat the remaining rasps to harden them. He tried, but all they did was change color to black. He gave them to his company chemist to see why he could not harden them. The chemist said he had never seen steel with such a high level of sulfur.

Seems like inspection/acceptance is the problem.

Inspection involves X-Raying the end product. The only steel that passes Is American Made Steel.
There are also many instances/horror stories where wildcatters were sent Cheap ChiCom pipe to drill
in the Pre Cambrian...And as soon as it got hot it just veered off course.

That's really dumb. Trump didn't place Tarrifs on anything made in Texas.

You didn't do well in Geography, did you?

Hey Peter, Baytown, Texas has Exxon, which is it's biggest employer. And many other refineries in surrounding areas. Believe me there's alot. We used to be a little one horse town. But in the last 10 years we have grown into a booming business! We have many new subdivisions coming in and people buying the houses. They're not vacant!! So I don't know where you are getting your unemployment rate, but it's not right. By the way, I see more license plates from out of state than ever. Mostly from northern states!! So help me understand where you got your info because everyone I know, has a job!!

Funny. Just talked to a guy who works at the Lone Star Steel plant out here, and he says they are planning an expansion of their pipe and tubing operations. More U.S. quality steel on the way!
MAGA!

petey, an American company importing chinese steel ? Time to tell them American steel or all bets are off and that should stand across the board including everyone. Why would you support anything coming from c*******t countries?
I welded some of that crap years ago and it’s nowhere near American steel.
I now purchase most of my steel from the scrap yards as this is some of the last places that we can get our steel and not worry about the quality.
You should be running articles about American Companies that are actually producing American steel.
Google American made products, support Americans not c****es!

Well, with a world wide economy he didn't have to place the tariff in Texas for it to be felt by manufacturers there. I thought you people were all economic whizzes and understood that kind of stuff but I forgot I was dealing with you--clearly not the greatest economic thinker on the board. Let me know if I need to go slower.
