From what I have seen so far, no one has bother to read the link I posted to support any of your posts. I think if you did, you may find that a lot of what you thought was true is not. I think you really need to read that, or don't bother posting. All you are doing is showing your ignorance.

I read the post and found it a warped partisan viewpoint

Well then, would you please explain to me why they held church services in the Congress chambers on Sunday and had church services on every religious holiday? Or how about the 10 commandments carved in various places in the capital. By the way, that includes the doors of the Supreme court. Can't get more public then most of those places, but then you progressives don't really care about that, since you never go there.

Moses is depicted as a law giver not a religious figure. Two other law givers are Confucius and Solon. The two tablets Moses hold are blank with no inscriptions the doors to the Supreme court don't literally have the 10 commandments carved on the lower portion . Engraved there are the Roman numerals law through v & six through ten represents not the 10 commandments but the first 10 amendments to the constitution.

Congress has retained paid chaplains since 1789 not 1777 but was strongly opposed by James Madison who stated; "The Constitution of the US forbids everything like an establishment of religion of a national religion.' He continued " If it be proper that public functionaries, as well as their Constituents should discharge their religious duties, let them like their Constituents, do so at their own expense.

Hi, Nickolai. It is refreshing to find another educated man in this vapid political exchange. Some of the misinformation we are seeing is PRECISELY why we don't need a "National religion". I find it no more logical to find a manger (I.e., an "advertisement" for someone's religious agenda) in front of a public building than a Walmart ad! Bible thumpers just can't let, their agenda stand on its own merits. They beg, cajole, and have their little tantrums to Co-opt our country into their fold. If they were really sure of their "rightness" they wouldn't need to try using this great,Nation to force, their prejudices on others, who might have differing beliefs. (Although, I'm afraid some of them would say "if you're not a,Christian", get,the hell out of the country!

Thanks grandpa too. I'm a great grandpa, 11 times over I'm sorry that I probably not live to see an Athiest elected to the highest office in the land. Progress is being made but ever so slow. Since the Renassance, civilization has advanced not because of conservsatism but inspite of it.

Separation of Church and state is provided for in the First Amendment to the U S Constitution. It is the first article of the Bill of Rights. It is shameful that a US citizen would be ignorant of this. Please check your facts before polluting the Internet, guys!

Is a church and a religion the same thing?

This Northern Gramdpa (sic) infers he is an American citizen and chides us for not knowing the 1st Amendment, when he himself is unfamiliar with it.

I don't find the wording quite as confusing as you do. I can't help your misunderstanding, but I suspect your obtuseness is because of your agenda. Try being a bit more objective and read it again! People HAVE been interpreting it properly for over two centuries!

There is no such phrase as "separation of church and state" in the US Constitution. The First Amendment has been quoted to you twice. Perhaps it is you who has a "misunderstanding".

The Constitution requires no interpretation; It only requires understanding. One of the great things about our democracy is its allowance of "ignert c*****rs"!

Apparently a self description of yourself, ie. "Ignert c*****rs".

Exactly who on the site has advocated for a "National religion"?

Hmmm... Another troll has arrived.

Welcome to the site.

I perceive we have a new "religious" troll seeking to create discord.

You have lived to see it. Our current sitting President has no religious beliefs unless they may in some way benefit his image.

My God bless your eleven grandchildren.

Unfortunately, as if we already didn't suffer enough of them. There is no dearth of them in these threads.

God did tell us, in both old and new, there would be trials to endure. :(
